Dr has prescribed nystatin liquid only because I am allergic to red dye in the pills. The directions " say swish and swallow or swish and spit." I would assume swish and swallow cause I am going after systemic yeast. But I read on the leaflet that the emulsion is not absorbed....
Anyone have any experience with the liquid. I won't be able to talk with my dr. Before Monday.
Any potential side effects to swallowing?

All I know is that the liquid contains sugar, so I've always steered clear of that one.

I swish and spit, then swish some fresh nystatin and swallow. No problem. But, try to do it after you have something in your belly, not on an empty stomach.

I've always swallowed, never heard of spitting. Obviously won't do much in the GI tract just swish and spit. Of course, the nystatin I had was from a compounding pharmacy, so I don't know what poisons are in the standard liquid. But if you're not going to swallow it, I'm not sure why you'd waste your time with it.
Nystatin will not deal with systemic yeast, only in the digestive tract. It will not get absorbed in order to get anywhere else in the body. It can be useful, and I benefited greatly from it, but it will not deal with systemic yeast.
Fluconazole can get systemic yeast. It is most commonly prescribed and dispensed under brand name diflucan, which has red dye in it. Fluconazole, without any red dye or sugar added, can be provided in liquid form by compounding pharmacies. I found it much cheaper that way, too, by the way, as the company that makes diflucan tries to rape and pillage the village with their price, and my insurance company stopped covering the pills after the first week.

Mine is just a personal preference. I don't like the thought of killing yeast in my mouth and then swishing it around in my mouth for three minutes, then swallowing the dead yeast. I swish and spit, then swallow a fresh dose.

Sure, I can get doing it that way, as you are at least swallowing some, so it is going through your digestive tract.
