what has been the worst abx or other "pill" for you?
mine was levaquin and any steroid. after a couple of weeks on levaquin i could barely walk my legs hurt so bad.
they did give me morphine in an iv once and i broke out from head to toes in bright red circles. just the circles, nothing else.
also tetracycline made me break out in purple and red blotches all over. could have been a herx at the time but i think it was allergic reaction.
funny how one pill can literally do you in.

Japanese Knotweed capsules...a week of them put me in the hospital unable to swallow even my own spit...took 1 year before I could swallow again, took 3 1/2 years to get off the IV fluids & food. I'm still not able to swallow very easily 4 1/2 years later. Definitely Japanese Knotweed in my case!

more on Levaquin ,please.. I thought because I was moving a bit more, that it was pain from that.
Feels like Fibro all over in an intense flare.
My muscle are hurting like all get out and I'm getting numb easy.
This is first time I've had to think about putting bars up by toilet to help lift off/momentum.
How does going back wards happen or is it killing something new. Also had issues with Bactrim and the second med in that ,when ordered by itself.

Caprastatin, to treat candida. This well-known wholistic health doctor prescribed this yeast-fighting med, telling me, ok, no more bread, sugar, etc, in your diet, and I agreed.
I took a caprastatin pill the next day, went out and was getting ice at an ice machine at Burger King for an icebag for my sore neck, when I collapsed straight down on the floor. Turned out to be my first herx experience.
I handed the attendant the doctor's number and asked him to call the doctor's office to ask what I should do.
So, I hear him say, "Hello, this is Burger King. We have patient of yours."
And I thought to myself, when I get back in to see this doctor, I'm never going to hear the end of it about just what I was doing at Burger King the next day when I had promised to be good about my diet!
And so it was. I went through a horrible week of die-off, then a week later, went back to see the doctor, and they wouldn't stop teasing me, when I had given them my word I wouldn't eat like that anymore!

flagyl, yes by the time I tried it, I had been on other oral & IV abx for almost 3 years that had much of the lyme load into the cyst form.
I couldn't get more than slivers of it in me and 4 days on and then off. Others do great with it and see improvement.

Prednisone is what got me into this mess to begin with, so that's at the top.
During my treatment though it would have to be Glutathione because it gave me the worse migraine of my life.

Clindamycin. Although I feel it helped a lot for 1-2 months, it then abruptly ended my tolerance to it and any other abx.

Before I found out I had Lyme, I had all kinds of itches - some it worked to put caladryl on,
and on the completely invisible foot itch - think like invisible ink - I have long put on ketoconazole cream. It's been a lifesaver for me.

Oh I am way over sharing, way over sharing...
I took Ketoconazole capsules right before I knew I had Lyme/ started Lyme treatment.
It is a heavy duty systemic anti-fungal, but I had a parasite exit while on Keto that was a large, whole spider.
Not kidding, kid you not. Hard to believe all the crazy madness in such a small body.
Thank God I'm better and cleared out than where I was *shudder* and I'm a clean, well kept girl. (sorry)

Oh Robin, that's sounds horrible! Funny story but still horrible.
Monocycline. It made me act insane. My mood was like really bad PMS combined with an overdose of steroid rage. My face and neck swelled up and I had horrible vertigo. It took a couple weeks to calm down after I stopped it.
Hydrocortisone (steroid) was worse in some ways.
It caused me permanent eye damage and I didn't even use it by my eyes. Ugh...

The only good news outa the whole experience with the caprastatin die-off is it led me to the Candida Research and Information Foundation in the East Bay,
where I went happily for 5 years to monthly meetings, thinking that's what ailed me. I learned a whole lot about wholistic health there. So sometimes a bad experience can lead to something beneficial.
Judie - you mention eye damage from the hydrocortisone - don't know if you're dealing with inflammatory problems from it - drinking mangosteen juice stops all inflammatory Lyme eye symptoms for me.

Grapefruit seed extract... It would mess me up like no other med or herb... I dont know why.
First day i had high blood pressure, second the horror began. Constant pain and burning sensations all over the body.
I still dont know if its herxing or i just cant tolerate that stuff. Have been on a lot of herbals or alternative stuff but this was the worst. I sometimes thought its "herxing" but it was just not tolerable.... Maybe i try another time with coffe enemas and huge amounts of binders but im not sure though. I played a concert on this GSE "herx" and i felt like dying every second of it, it was a horrible time for me and even of GSE i was like dead for almost a month.

I wish i had come back to hear about beaches spider
I always thought i was killing something cuz as soon as i took it under my skin i got this squiggly feeling...all over...intense...lasted for hours and i remember telling doc if i needed that they would have to put me to sleep while it was working
I spent some time fighting parasites but might have done more if i had heard about the spider,...id like to know more about what it looked like cuz i have passed some wierd things on parasite meds...but the one thing that looked sorta like a spider i wrote of.As undigested food
Now that it looks like i have a pretty significant mold infection too reacting like that to keto would make sense.
Its awful we look back and if we knew then what we kniw now We might be better today

Was given to me after I woke one day with both arms swollen and in pain (diagnosed as triceps tendonitis, but I think it was a mild case of rhabdo).
Was a short, but high dose course. Literally made me pee the bed...so embarrassing.
I've not been right since taking that prednisone. I didn't want to take it, but I couldn't even bend my arms, so I made the mistake of agreeing to take it.

Azithromycin - gave me horrible abdominal pain and didn't help at all ...
Rifampin - was great in the beginning but, after 8 months, my thyroid wasn't happy ...
Clindamycin and quinine - got a terrible rash on day 2, don't know which of the meds caused it though ...
Alinia - explosive diarrhea from hell on day 2. Never touched it again ...
