I tested positive for early Lyme 3 weeks ago and just finished a course of Amoxicillin. I told the Dr that I didn't want to take Doxy as I know how hard it is on the stomach and my husband had a bad reaction to it previously.
The day after I received the positive test I called the dr office to ask if I was tested for any co-infections. The office woman said she thought so and would get back to me with the results.
A week later (today) I called dr. office back and they told me I wasn't tested for co-infections, and that I should come back in to be tested.
My question is--since I was on the Amoxicillin, will the test for co-infections be reliable at all? I currently have (knock wood) no symptoms of any kind.

P.S. A little background--I found a deer tick on me and within 2 weeks I developed a rash--not typical bullseye. I also had a very swollen eyelid a few days before the rash. I went to the Dr as soon as I saw the rash, and that's when I had the first blood test which came back positive. I live in Hunterdon County NJ so it was only a matter of time until this happened to me. My husband has been ill for 4 years with Lyme.

You really should find a LLMD for further assessment. Treatment for lyme is often required to be combination and longer than for 3 weeks. Good thing you found and addressed early, though. You may have gotten really lucky but just keep an eye on things.
Load up on good probiotics.
For your records, hope you saved photos of the rash and have your own copies of your test results.
for testing of coinfections, these are not always accurate and a LLMD is usually best to talk to you about symptoms, etc. so that they would know which ones might be more likely.
in the meantime, the best lab for testing is
IGENEX - they can answer your questions about certain Rx before testing for coinfections. Just call them if you don't see the question in their web pages. -
