I am on day 3 of treating a week old, suspicious bite with Doryx (doxy).

I currently have some spine/neck issues going on and have been in physical therapy for a few weeks now.

Slightly bulging disc, etc.

Yesterday, my spine/back muscles hurt so badly all day long. I could not get comfortable.

Last night, I did not sleep well for the same reason.

I can bend my chin to my chest, but it does hurt when I do that.

Is this normal?

I thought I'd once read that when you treat Lyme, any existing non-Lyme issues can feel worse.

So, could that be what this is?

Could I have some form of meningitis? Would I be SERIOUSLY ill if that were the case?

my "other" sx non related to lyme or other tick disease- became more prominent after I finished my treatments. not during the first month or even the first year.

that's just what I noticed about me. everyone is different

If you were having low-grade meningitis to lyme, your neck would be stiff and sore nearly all the time. And, you would have a LOT of headaches. I had those symptoms for all the years I went undiagnosed with lyme disease.

If you have disc issues in your neck, and you are in physical therapy for them, ask the therapist if it is OK for you to stretch your neck so your chin touches your chest. They may not want you to do that right now.

A good rule is NOT to do anything that causes pain. Pain is your body's message to you to stop doing the thing that causes pain.

I think you really need something to help you with worry or anxiety. It is putting a heavy burden on you how you are worrying so much.

Perhaps an antidepressant for a number of months would bring you back to yourself.

Anxiety is one of the worst symptoms I had with lyme and I had it again with menopause. The antidepressant made me myself again.

Hey, TF. I have PT tomorrow, so I'll ask that question!

I have something that I could take for anxiety.

I have low dose Ativan that I only take once in a while. I like to rely on breathing techniques if I could.

You're right though....the anxiety just turns me into a huge ball of worry.

And, knowing what I dealt with last time, I always feel that timing is critical.

My spine/neck does hurt today, but a little less.

I'm hoping this is muscular then.

I would LOVE to just feel like me again.

I'm actually very laid back when not dealing with this stuff! LOL! [Wink]

Can you turn your head all the way to look to the side? If not - that's problematic. If so, I would say to just wait and ask your PT tomorrow.

Benzos (Ativan) are really hard to get off of and only work when used once in awhile. Anti-depressants help reduce anxiety...just be careful which type you take.

I can turn my head to each side. I feel tightness, but I can do it.

I took only half an Ativan yesterday. Today, I'm not taking any.

I was once on Paxil, and that was awful to get off of.

I was on a really low dose too. It never really helped my anxiety though.

Hoping that treatment is just killing stuff off.

Trying to remember if I can take Adrenevive at the same time as Doryx.

Or if Adrenevive has to be taken with food.

I took Zoloft. It worked great. I just tapered off when I wanted to stop. No problems.

I've had an Ativan prescription for years, and only use them once in a while.

Once, during a stressful time, I took 2 a day for 2 weeks. (I'm allowed to take 3 a day....never did that).

Not thinking because it's such a low dose, I just stopped cold after that.

I was dizzy round the clock. Called doc and realized it was withdrawal.

So now I know if I ever need to take it that frequently, I'd just have to taper off.

I might just take one a day for now and do a ot of relaxation techniques.
