Hi all,

I would really like some input regarding this as i am not going to a MD to pursue the following, i will only do the bloodwork (check liver, cholesterol etc) at local hospital, any kind of info is highly appreciated, and i do realize this is quite a lenghty post, so thanks in advance:

I have a few questions regarding testosterone injections when dealing with chronic lyme. I have had chronic lyme now for almost 5 years. Have been treated with antibiotics and also herbal protocol ( salt/c).

I have no "major" symptoms of lyme anymore, other than that i have low-energy levels and some tiredness, but the major symptoms are gone, i have had this improvement now for almost 3 years.

I work out / go to the gym about 4-5 times/week, which is positive but as written before my energy levels are def. low. I am a 30 year old male.

I never had a testosterone-level test/examination done before, if i do it and it shows "below normal" levels, can i start with testosterone therapy?

What doses for this is normal? can i do for example 250 mg every week of testosterone Enathe, or what steroid do you recommend? Or which steroid profile have any of you had experience with?

The most important question: Is there a risk for further complications if you use anabolic steroids and have had / or have chronic lyme?

I know that corticosteroids are NOT well tolerated among lymies but this is "anabolic" steroid so it should not be "harmfull" (beside the standard side-effects of anabolic steroid, which is a risk i am willing to take to improve my overall health) ? And since lyme messes with your hormones should it not be safe and positive to use these steroids in order to improve your levels?

Thank you for reading, i am kind of lost here so any input will be helpfull, i know there have been previous posts about "testosterone- replacement- therapy" but the are not specific terms of: anabolic steroid profile, dosage, lenght, results etc.

/Surre

If it were 'me' I would go to a health food/drug store and get some T and growth hormone(pill form). Worked for me.

Reminds me I need to go again as I ran out awhile ago.

OTHER things you might try is Kelp especially if you use sea salt without iodine in it. Just a few and either you need it or not

Too much is just as bad as not enough,,,dont over do it

You might try magnesium and calcium like Citrical,,,and dont buy mg at wally world,,the good health store a better source.

Even pharmacys now have junk magnesium on the shelf. Only good stuff I found lately is a triple mg at CVC.

Could try other stuff too,,see what works, what doesnt.

MY acid test is use something for 3-4 months then go off cold turkey and see if it helped

IF you can tell keep taking it,if not try something else.

Osteo bi flex (glucosamine/clondrritin) is my go to for arthritis med. Like popping joints or bone spur pain.

Hope you find something that helps. Usually when you do its day and night right then.

PS dont be such a stranger

If you get your testosterone level tested and it comes back low, you go to a urologist and get a prescription for testosterone gel.

You put the gel on daily (in the morning) on your shoulders. Works quickly and works well.

If the gel he prescribes does nothing for you, let him know and he should switch you to another brand. (Some people can't absorb some brands, so you have to give others a try.)

My husband has low T and the first gel did nothing for him but the second one he tried works very well.

The urologist will tell you how much to use daily in the morning--1 tube, 2 tubes, or 1 squirt, 2 squirts, etc. If you use too much, you will be sexy continually--a pain. When you get the level right, you will have good energy and a normal sex drive for your age.

As testosterone injections were explained to us, you really want to avoid them if possible. They give you too much in the first few weeks after the injection and too little in the last few weeks. So, you are on a roller coaster continually.

The gel is the best way to do this and gives a continual testosterone level. And, now that there is a generic form, our copay is much lower.

Without this gel, my husband just sits in a chair. No energy. With it, he is his normal self. (He never had lyme.) And, with it, he can build muscle mass again. It is all good.

This is the proper treatment for low T. You can call and check to be sure the urologist you select prescribes testosterone gel for those with low T. This way, you know that you will get what you want when you have the appointment.

Also, if your testosterone is at the low end of the normal range, that is low T. You don't have to be out of the normal range to get the gel. I sure hope you DON'T have a level below the normal range. But, if you do, it is even more important to start using the gel.

Make sure you get the testosterone test done RIGHT when you wake up in the morning.

It goes down naturally during the day and can show up low when in reality it isn't low.

Mine tested as low, but then I went back right when I woke up and it came back normal.

Also, I have been treating for ten months, so it is possible that it came back up from treatment with antibiotics.

I would suggest using injections of testosterone cypionate. The gel has many issues: very expensive, messy (easy to get on other people, takes a long time to dry), will increase hair on your shoulders, skin can become resistant over time.

Dose is dependent on your current test levels.

Here's my protocol for low T: bi-weekly 75 mg injection of testosterone cypionate along with twice weekly injections of HCG, 250 IU. I also add a DIM supplement to keep estrogen levels down. Periodic testing of total and free testosterone along with estrone and estradiol levels is essential.

Thanks for all the replies =)And thank you "thebinge" for sharing your protocol. May i ask how long you have been on testo cyp? I am guessing the HCG injects are standard if you do testo longterm. Cypionate and enanthate seem very similar when i checked the actual steroid profile.
I have read that the enanthe might cause more water retention (source: steroidbodybuilding forum) so taking cyp makes more sense.

I've been on this for almost 3 years now. I've been able to reduce my dosage of both as I've gotten the Lyme under control. The HCG prevents testicular atrophy from long-term test. cypionate usage. Both of these were prescribed by an Anti-Aging doctor I used to see, my LLND approves the usage of both.

Even if you are "through" with lyme, liver support is important. A stressed liver can cause all variations of low energy. And, even if you have no other symptoms now, the liver can take a long time to repair the stress of infections & treatments.

Just to be sure it's not missed in the small print, if you get a T-gel, do not cuddle with anyone or any pets with that area where you apply the gel. It can transfer to others with direct contact and others would react in a very different way to the medicine. Planning ahead as to where to apply - and being mindful helps from the start.

If applied to, say, the back of the knee and you wear shorts . . . that could rub off onto furniture and then to others' skin.

I also wonder about laundering clothing that has the gel on it with others' clothing, if there could be a transfer (maybe hand wash the clothing, that part of the fabric that could have the gel on it with some soap / water before putting in the washer or dryer).

None of this is to deter you if you find out you do need a physiological replacement dose, just to keep it out of the bodies of those in your family, friends, pets.

Thebinge-

Your protocol makes sense, i am happy it works.
Are you saying it also helped you with some of the lymesymptoms you were having or did you start your protocol after you were "cured" of lyme?

So tired of hearing people compare anabolic steroids to corticosteroids, saying steroids is a "big no no" for lymies, without knowing any real facts.
I was prescribed corticosteroids about 4 years ago when i didnt even know i had lyme, long story short: it was horrible! But knowing the difference between those two should clear things up.

I will probably start my test-protocol sometime around september.

Keebler-

I will only do inject no gel. Low doses to begin with to check my tolerance-level and maybe up the dose if i need to.

I agree with you regarding liver support, it is a must! I have been using milk thistle for a while now and its great! [Smile]
