The second I wake up and get out of bed my heart starts pounding through my chest. I haven't check the heart rate but it has to be extremely high.
It's very scary. What gives?

Ya - I suspect thyroid issues. Also it seems to be related to acid reflux/Bart/Candida.
I have hypoglycemia and have to eat before bedtime. Well this is really bad for someone with severe GERD. Ugh

One reason I mentioned thyroid is that my heart racing seems to be better now that I am on thyroid meds. My tests were always "low normal" but I had all the symptoms of low thyroid.
I also have been taking tons of magnesium (which helps the racing) and more minerals in general. I use ReMag and now ReMyte by Carolyn Dean. The ReMyte provides the other minerals.
Be sure to take magnesium at bedtime.

If it's when you first stand up - POTS.
Get up more slowly. Also move your legs around a bit while still in bed.

For me, it's while I'm still in bed. I misread what he said. (I was going by the subject line.)

For me it's also while I'm still in bed. Though it gets worse when I stand. Almost like my heart is struggling to get blood to the extremities.

Have you undergone a saliva cortisol study? It may be interesting to see what the value is in the AM.

POTS can affect you when you just sit up in bed.
You have to sit up VERY gradually as you sense that your body is adapting to the change in bodily position.
