I was in the store today and saw the display of the Bach Flower Remedies. I was wondering if any of you guys/gals have used these...

Do you think they work?

I saw a documentary about Dr. Bach a while ago & it was quite interesting.

I have used Rescue Remedy off and on for ages.

I would say it works for MINOR anxiety but then I'm sure others can argue that it is mind over matter.

For me, I wouldn't even CARE if it is a placebo as long as *I* think it is working and I'm feeling better.

I know they have loads of different kinds but this is the only one I've had experience with.

Didn't help my cat. Sorry.

(Not kidding here, she has anxiety due to a family trauma.)

Re: Bach Flower Rescue® Remedy

Alcohol in it is very much like rocket fuel

After experience below, I tried putting in on the inside of my wrists. No effect for me that way at all, after many tries, over time.

For oral drops and spray:

The alcohol in it is very strong and gave a instant "hit" to my brain - and not at all in a good way. Years ago when I tried the "Rescue® Remedy" when I was very challenged by sensory overload if out and about,

or felt a seizure coming on, it seemed not only to quicken its arrival but also took the intensity to a more rocket-launch level.

I never understood why others could "do" this. I tried several times, over time but each time, it just lit the fuse for take off! That's been years so I just checked current day ingredients. They still use alcohol - at least in this one.

And, it is not so much the amount of a few drops but the instant that hits my tongue, my brain senses a full on chemical assault, apparently, and it goes into "Red Alert" action mode at warp speed.

I also limit any alcohol tinctures to just those herbs that do not work in capsule form but then try to get the glycerine tincture if that is available.

Rescue® Remedy [is supposed to] help us relax, get focused and get the needed calmness.

Adrenal support is likely a far better approach for the kinds of symptoms many might consider if they are thinking about Bach Flower Remedies.

For the kind of very complex symptoms that those with lyme face, IMO, it's better to address such symptoms with a basic double two-step:

address infection(s) directly, assertively

support with nutrients in herbs, food

&

rest as required

move gently as is best possible

Bach remedies are used literally all over here in Germany and Switzerland. Very well known.

I like them, dr. K.'s right hand uses them as supportive. It will help you, if you find what you need, but the changes are very subtle.

The feeling, when you find the flower that fits to you today, is though wonderful. My daughter would just take the bottle, and WITHOUT drinking it, she would just keep in her hands for about 15 min, maybe longer, enjoying the feeling the bottle brings her.

she has done that since she was very small. I think kids are more open to what these flowers do.

They won't heal lyme (I think almost anything will heal lyme), but i find it helps as supportive therapy.

Rescue has been very effective for my cats on a long cross country trip.. no kitty narcotic were needed.. and one cat that had been anti social before the car ride warmed up to people after... she also used the liter box in hotel rooms,, previously had always refused the litter box preferring the great out of doors.

Interesting Carmen! My traumatized cat has to take a small dose of Paxil. This helps her cope with her emotions, & severe anxiety. Allows her to eat normally, rest normally, and not be obsessive. For her, the med is truly a miracle.

I will probably leave her on Paxil through the winter and see if we can wean her off gradually in the spring.

Can't believe I'm talking about my cat here!

I know people who say they are helpful. I saw the documentary about Dr. Bach on TV a while ago & it was really interesting. I know some people are just not into the idea of this kind of thing.

It may have to do with the placebo effect - but there's nothing wrong with that if it works. Could have something to do with Emoto's findings with water...?

I wanted to try some but they are a bit expensive. I was thinking I could make my own but I don't know if you get the full effect of the placebo (if that's what it is) if you make a remedy yourself.

Keebler - maybe you could try a few drops in water as opposed to taking it straight?

There's an Australian version called Australian Bush Flower Essences...

I wasn't thinking of them as a "cure" for Lyme but they could help with people's emotional issues from dealing with Lyme or having a long term illness in general.

It's not easy & anything we can do to help is probably a good thing.

No problem talking about pets! I have some pets I care about, too.

I'm sure you can do your own! Flowers have to be wild, if I understood well, and fresh, from the morning.

Yep, no cure for lyme, but great help, to calm feelings!

If it works for pet, could you call them also placebo? They even don't know, mostly that we are using these flowers, right?

I just put them in their food or water.

Sparkle, I was thinking, couldn't you buy those kits with all Bach flowers in minimal amounts?

I mean, the kits practioners use for electrodermal testing or so?

I swear that you do not need to drink the BAch solutions to get treated.

Just being by it can already treat you!

Or just get a copy machine, of radionics, and copy the remedies, if you feel the effect will be stronger if ingested.

Radionic machines usually work well short term to copy remedies (I mean, the remedy imprints do stay there for a couple of days, then you need to copy again).

So it becomes a one time buy and you can test and learn how these flowers work!

You're not supposed to take them straight - supposed to use the stock bottles to put drops of each remedy needed into a bottle of plain, pure water, and then the patient takes drops of that water-back flower remedy mix daily.

The remedies, in my experience, seem to work best on emotional issues, attitude, etc.

They can work topically if applied to wrists & temples.

I did use Rescue Remedy on a cat that had been hurt. It helped immediately - the cat was cowering down in the corner, and after I applied the Rescue Remedy, he stopped cowering and came over to me and let me pet him gently.

There is an alcohol-free version of Rescue Remedy - the label says "For Kids."

I thought I remembered you have to put it in water...

Thanks Brussels. I have to give it some thought. They are almost $20 a bottle these days. Kind of high...

Maybe the placebo effect can be transferred to the pet? Cats really pick up on vibrations. I'm sure dog do, too but I don't know too much about dogs.

http://www.dynamica-shop.ch/product_info.php?info=p3_phytomed-bachblueten-test-set.html

It costs about 100 dollars for all Bach flowers in test vials, here in Switzerland.

Either you can dilute just a drop or two in water, or as I said, use the bottle all around trigger points of the body.

It is not placebo, even though thinking it works may help (even for abx, if you think it works, it may help!).

My nosodes through photons, I guess, they were more than placebo (as I'm still in remission for more than 6 years!!). Nosodes have less active chemicals than Bach flowers!

I really hold them with my hands (BAch flowers), behind my neck, on the thyroide, thymus, solar plexus, heart (main chakras), third eye.... and I do feel the treatment this way.

It's extremely enjoyable, and I find, it is even deeper this way than just drinking.

I would spend a few minutes, even about 20-30 minutes in bliss with my bach flower of the moment, and I swear, it goes deep.

I wish I made a video of my little one, when she was small. She would hold the bottles with so much joy, and take in the energy all over her body, while laying on the couch.

When I picked the bottle in the end, it was so hot, because she had kept it touching her skin the whole time. She would rub the vial on her face, like a plush animal!

Homeopaths know that you don't actually need to ingest homeopathy: just rubbing it on skin, or holding the substance in your hands will already do the treatment too.
