Ugh, so I just sent out my blood to igenex today after getting drawn at my doctors office. She's an infectious disease specialist not an LLMD.. That I am seeing not till November

19. But I read somewhere that the blood needs to be spun for it to be accurate ... That didn't happen to me. She literally just took the blood and then packaged it up. Do you guys thinks I

am still safe or could this give misleading results ? Thanks everyone.

Call Igenex and talk with them. Tell them to deny the sample if they have any question at all. That way, you'd not have them even run the test or charge you for that.

But call them today - they are pacific time and still open. that way they can flag it for incoming -- after they consider any possible issues.

you could have them send you another test kit and have the blood drawn elsewhere. I would not let an ID doctor or their lab anywhere near it, though.

Find out from your local lyme support group which labs might be best - of course you'd need a doctor's signature so not sure if you had the ID doctor sign and might need to get another signature but then you can take the kit to another place for the draw, not connected to them.

IGeneX - contact

I would call them and also for your records and a safety measure for them, too: send them an email after you speak, stating something like:

Dear ____ (whomever you talk with)

Thanks for helping me regarding . . . .

[state what they tell you they will do] - really appreciate your help.

Your name, any number details on your test kit, date & time you send this note

Who said this? Igenex or the lab where you had the blood drawn?

If IGeneX says that, you can rest more easily.

For reference, you want to avoid are situations such as:

Darn.. Yeah The guy at igenex told me they spin it there.

I went and dropped it off at FedEx express myself right after I left my doctors.. The label on the kit they gave me said 2 day shipping. So it will arrive thursday. Do you think im still ok?

It will be fine. The label on the package is the package that Igenex sent to you for the shipping.

2-day shipping is sometimes overnight, or at least the next day. But, the key is that you took it yourself, you know it's in Fed Ex hands in the package that Igenex sent.

It's a bit more simple - less work for the drawing lab - than when I did it years ago but all is in order.

All will be well. You can breathe easily now. Good luck.

Well, new information, new skills will be learned (whether we are ready or not, eh?).

I hope you have some smooth sailing for as much of your journey as possible. Take care.

You're right, Semia - very difficult, but along the way, I think funny stuff happens. Like I sent my blood off to IGeneX, and my doctor called me with results, asking how I could be both positive and negative!

I said I didn't know, and I'd find out. I did - I was 4-band positive, meaning IGeneX said I was positive, but the CDC wanted 5 bands, so I was negative.

It felt like I was being told I was hot/cold, awake/asleep, sick/not sick, pregnant/not pregnant, all at the same time...
