Hi all, I just got a call from someone at work who is getting heavy pressure to get the flu shot.
She was diagnosed with Lyme many years ago but is now asymptomatic and does not want the vaccine. She asked if I could fax her some literature that would help her make these people go way. Something like a link from ILADS and/or a respected doctor or researcher would be great.
Short of quitting, what's the best way to deal with this? Thanks PS: I looked briefly but only found anecdotes and comments. I'm trying to find something that can't be easily brushed off.

I would tell her to bring in a note from her doctor simply saying she cannot get the vaccine for medical reasons. That should do it.
No need to get into Lyme. Plenty of people can't get the flu shot for a wide variety of medical reasons.

It's been so long her LLMD retired. Wow, the force is strong on this topic. Apparently, nobody wants to go on record as running afoul of the "all-knowing" CDC.
(Cue the Darth Vader music)
If I find anything I'll link it back here. Thanks

- Look at the group below they may have suggestions. You might be able to contact them.
You might also contact that person's state Bar Association as to if there is a law in their state on the books requiring this.
First step: If they work in health care or education, there may be certain "rules" and you could find the website for their profession / trade & also then for their specific employer site to see if there are "rules" in place
to find out if they are legally bound - or if the employer just says it's mandatory. How they word the statement can make a difference. Just because a boss says it's required, that may not be legal. -

The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is a national charitable, non-profit educational organization founded in 1982.
NVIC launched the vaccine safety and informed consent movement in America in the early 1980's and is the oldest and largest consumer led organization advocating for the institution of vaccine safety and informed consent protections in the public health system.
Our Mission
The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is dedicated to the prevention of vaccine injuries and deaths through public education and to defending the informed consent ethic in medicine.
As an independent clearinghouse for information on diseases and vaccines, NVIC does not advocate for or against the use of vaccines.
We support the availability of all preventive health care options, including vaccines, and the right of consumers to make educated, voluntary health care choices.
The "vaccine" link here has many sections, including ingredients, what you need to know, etc. -

Thanks Keebler. I lose faith in humanity every single day. Studying mandatory vaccines makes today no different. Simply incredible.

- Me, too.
Along that line, I was going to advise her not to tell others with whom she works - as that kind of backlash can be cruel and invade all aspects of one's life.
She also should not have to say anything about lyme or her health. She needs no reason to offer anyone, IMO. And that can boomerang.
But, if there are exceptions for "health reasons" she should keep it very vague and keep her mouth shut around others about all this.
On one hand, my advice bothers me as more should be aware but the public can be so very vicious about this so tread carefully. Know who you are talking to about this issue . . . who else is listening and who that person will tell.
Do not talk in public, anywhere. The walls can have ears.
There is a time and place for trying to speak power to truth. And a time to keep quiet (until one is a better position to craft one's message & to plan how to withstand the repercussions if a job is involved).
Sharing key links is one way to go, though. Just copy a page - have copies ready and give to others, no name on it, just where they can learn for themselves. -

That's good advice. In a world full of fraud and dummies sometimes it's best to just act like a dummy. There are a few holdouts and if push comes to shove, I hope they quit.

Fight back if you want to. The powers that be want you to give in. I guess you need to find out what laws at this point are pertinent in your state.

No live attenuated vaccine.
Despite the advantages of live, attenuated vaccines, there are some downsides.
It is the nature of living things to change, or mutate, and the organisms used in live, attenuated vaccines are no different. The remote possibility exists that an attenuated microbe in the vaccine could revert to a virulent form and cause disease.
***Also, not everyone can safely receive live, attenuated vaccines.***
For their own protection, people who have damaged or weakened immune systems—because they’ve undergone chemotherapy or have HIV, for example—cannot be given live vaccines."
