Has anyone ever gotten bitten by soft ticks and gotten illnesses like B hermsii and whatever else they might carry?
Just curious - it was brought to my attention recently that an LLMD medical office asked a patient to look at B hermsii symptoms, and I saw that would be transmitted from a soft tick, if I have my understanding correct.

- As their bite is not usually felt and they only attach and feed for 15-20 minutes and then leave, I would imagine most people affected would not be aware of bites. They are also more prone to bite at night.
All kinds of critters (squirrels, birds, etc.) can carry soft ticks, too, just as they can hard ticks.
As for certain kinds of ticks carrying only certain infections, though, I'm not on board with that. It would seem to me their infection package would depend solely upon their prey as they move through life - what infections they "consume" from their blood meals - or what they might be "born" with.
Vectors simply pass what they've been in contact with. It seems that way to me. -

Maybe me.
I remember my bite ,which was huge, swollen, painful and crusty but the people I was hanging with said there was NO LYME THERE. It was one of the states with updated reporting but last time they checked there were no blacklegged ticks.
I might be a lonestari.

Just because there may be no blacklegged ticks, that would not mean there could be no lyme.
Other ticks can carry lyme, too. So can mosquitoes, fleas, etc.
And blacklegged ticks get around a lot more than we think. Anytime they can hitch a ride on a bird, or a mouse on a truck / ship who know where they will stop. -

But I still think I might be lonestari. The area is well known for those and very -- extremely -- low reporting rates for the black ones.
