I have severe burning so my doctor suggested 100mg 3X day of Gabapentin to start and see if it helps at all. I've heard it can have strange side effects so I was wondering if it is best to start before bed. Any recommendations?

I myself would begin with 100mg at bedtime.

Thanks Lymetoo. I think it is safer that way.

My rule of thumb is to start things low. I never know how my body will respond.

Good luck.

100 mg is really low so you should be ok.

I took teo 300 mg pills and felt pretty weird the first evening. (couldn't even walk straight)It very rapidly got better though. The only side effect I have now is sleepiness.

Best wishes!

I've been taking gabapentin for awhile now. Only real side effect that I've noticed is it an can make you quite sleepy. So keep that in mind if you take any during the day.

What I'm doing now is taking 400mg in the morning and then 800mg at night. Seems to be working well for me. I've heard that the drug is quite harmless though so don't be too worried about it.

I think everyone is different, I had severe emotional reaction borderline suicide on 100 mg. I am now on Lyrica 100 mg 2x a day. I would be very careful and whatch for side effects carefully.

I started at 300mg once a day at bedtime. Actually that's still what I take, more than a year later. I'd think starting at 100mg at bedtime should be pretty tolerable for most people.

Good to know SickSam! My doctor told me that I might want to work up to 300mg at bedtime and see if that will take me through the day. We'll see.

Gabapentin makes me feel high, like I am floating through soft cotton.

Makes it hard for me to concentrate and think while I am talking, haha. Sometimes I just ramble after I take it.

thatdudefromkansas, you made me laugh. I guess I better make sure I'm not doing something important after taking it until I adjust to the medication. I just want the burning to stop. I pick it up today. Thanks!

I started at 300 night time. It makes you a little sleepy and spacy at first but this dissipated quickly for me. 100mg is a very small dose. My Dr. has some that take 2800mg/day.

I stopped taking it after I started supplementing with Liposomal Glutathione. It got rid of most of the burning for me.
