I was living one day at a time and not treating my Lyme disease. However, after taking some wobenzymes last month I got the old headache back that I felt the need to take some antibiotics. I don't have a doctor right now and am not going to see one in the near future because of financial issue. I have some leftover supply of Ceftin so I started to take it.

The thing is, I found out my Lyme disease almost 4 years ago so it should be in the Late stage??? chronic Lyme? I'm not sure if the Ceftin is still useful at this time? worth taking? The instruction on this med says, for Lyme disease, take 500mg two time a day for 21 days. I'm going to finish the course as instructed but I do realize it's for early stage lyme.

So I don't know if I'm doing good or harm by taking this antibiotics? Part of the reason is I just don't want to waste the medicine. I had already wasted too much minocyclines and doxycyclines. I never felt any real herx reaction on these.. I don't know what I am doing.

It won't be wasted to not take it if it's going to hurt you. And I think it will. I think you are better off not taking it.

There must have been some reaction you had to not have finished that when it was prescribed four years ago ? ?

Check expiration date. Even if not expired, has it been through hot summers? If so, it could have been damaged by heat over all this time. Sounds like it's about four years old?

As you have a very limited supply (too short a time frame) and

it's just one antibiotic (mono-therapy with just one single Rx is not a good idea - it can CAUSE chronic lyme by forcing spirochetes into cystic form), it is likely to do more harm than good.

There are other things you could do instead, though, even if you can't access a LLMD. There are some excellent herbal avenues. Find the books by HARROD BUHNER, a LL master herbalist - & / or Zhang's Chinese Medicine Lyme book.

If at all possible, perhaps look into getting a rife machine?

Sounds like you are out of it as you say you took it last month, but Wobenzyme is an excellent support.

Thanks. Good points. I know expired tetracycline can not be taken so I threw them away. Not quite sure about the other meds, they were not prescribed here but sent to me by my family from overseas, they are like three year old. Probably I shouldn't take them. But I really have a lot: Ceftin, Ornidazole(like tinidazole) and rifampin.

I was interested in Buhner's protocal but after some research I feel it might not be as good as TCM. I did take cat's claw on and off during the past year and find it's very helpful for my immune system. However, I feel I need a strong killer now, will the Knotweed do? or Sarsaparilla? I don't feel the other herbs used by Buhner are strong enough because those are commonly used in Chinese medicine pills for cold or diarrhea, never heard of them can save lives. so...

Well, all those other Rx, so you have more than just one. But I'd not go just tossing them around, quite a bit of study on the various protocols would be a good idea to see if what you have correlates and if you have enough - and if they are still good or not.

There are several LLMDs who have books out. If you can get those, good basic detail.

And check thread on each. I think I've read that some have harsh reactions to rifampin so you'd want to have all the supports in place and know precisely how to go about this.

[What a terrible place the IDSA puts patients, in, eh? And failure of insurance companies to treat lyme, too. To have to figure out so much on their own.]

Do you have adequate liver support on hand? That's a requirement.

Have you read Buhner's books? He has a new one out - brand new - update to his previous lyme book. Just because some of the herbs have been used for lesser conditions does not make them unacceptable as part of a protocol. Read all you can about each one.

I would not just take this or that herb here and there, other than for symptom relief. Some kind of combination protocol very specifically designed needs to be worked out so all the bases are covered and you aren't taking thing that overlap in the wrong ways.

As for TCM, Zhang's book is excellent, just different than Buhner's. If you can afford to smell like garlic, this can be powerful. However, while I do think they have a very fair price considering growing, tending, harvesting, getting this to you, it can still be a bit more than some can afford.

However, if you can't afford the full protocol, Hepapro's Allicin is superb, the best I've ever used.

Thank you. I did read a bit about different treatment protocols. Very complex stuff.
I think the three Rx meds I have can be used as a combination, according to Dr. H's protocol, without considering the co-infections.

However, I don't feel comfortable taking all three at once, actually I've never taken rifampin before. so I kind of rotated, took amoxicilline for a week, took ornidazole for about 4 days, and then started to take ceftin.

For liver support, I have NAC, VC, and Calcium-D-Glucarate. don't know if that's enough.

I did tried to research Dr.Z a little bit in the past, but the thing is: in TCM, each individual is different, so you have to take a personalized treatment plan, it can be quite expensive and time consuming and you have to find a really good Chinese medicine doctor. Since I'm Chinese myself, I doubt if this kind of good doctors can be found here or anywhere.

The above are the reasons why I kind of gave up Lyme treatment altogether(too complex, too hard) unless I need to control symptoms(such as the headache triggered by wobenzymes, have no idea why would I take it in the first place).

Your input are very helpful,Thanks! dealing with this all by myself can be very hard sometimes, both physically and emotionally.

(Editing out doctor's last names per Lymenet rules)

Hello BlueLyme, the two herbs are good, I've taken them unknowingly in the past as a Chinese person. Andrographis and Houttunyia are indeed for "fire" and "inflammation". The former has pilled form as a supplement for fever I think, and the latter has an eyedrop for inflamed eyes.

How do you take them? and dosage?

And can you order rocephen? isn't it Rx IV ABX?
Are you under the guidance of a doctor?

Yeah I hope treatment is better than not, when considering the flora damaging effects of abx, and worsening of SIBO or candida...

Kinda sorta...i will send you pm, on the andrographis i have it in a decoction i drink a cup a day of double boiled and chew on sticks throughout the day.with chinese cats claw and dan shen and reishi and others ..

the houttunia i did a pinch ground up in a cup of tea with red root for lymph drainage, had itching spell i think it was lomatium though.

i am doing bvt 3x a week and rife and have been doing oxidative iv therapies...and loads of supplements....it does get overwhelming and i question it a lot too...its like building a house while it is still on fire..
