I just read a news page on facebook that has a video and the expert on lyme in the video is saying that ONLY the black legged tick carries Lyme????
I thiought others did too??
and the black legged tick isn't the deer tick is it? I thought they were two different kinds.

I think the black-legged is the deer tick .. the ixodes. (sp?)
She's incorrect about it being the only tick to carry Lyme.

I think it's capable of surviving and being transmitted by all ticks. The only thing that made it seem like this couldn't happen before was that the CDC was doing surveillance in areas with lower incidence and assuming that the type of tick had something to do with it.
Borrelia's been around a lot longer than the CDC.

I doubt the doctor on that video is a lyme specialist. She is probably following the IDSA.

- All KINDS of ticks can carry lyme.
Yet all ticks on the planet may not (yet?) be infected so as to carry lyme.
Of course, for those ticks that are carrying lyme, they are also carrying any number of other infections. -

I didn't think so and was having a memory loss incident, so I needed to check
my vet said same thing "its only the tiny deer ticks you have to worry about" yeah right.

My llmd said male ticks do not carry it.
