So, as you guys all know, I had a tooth pulled 2 weeks ago.
5 years ago it was a failed filling, then a failed root canal then an apicoeptomy. This all happened right before I got Lyme.
The tooth has been sensitive off/on for the past five years. I have read other people's accounts of how getting rid of root-canaled teeth has helped them and I have always wondered about this tooth, and if it was holding me back. I did improve a LOT over the past 5 years, but not to the point of full and complete health.
A month ago, the tooth really started to hurt more and the dentist found a cavity in it. He was also very supportive of having it pulled, knows about my Lyme, is Lyme-friendly, and said he has seen other people with chronic health conditions improve when they have these types of teeth pulled.
So I did it - had it pulled about 2 weeks ago now. Or was it 3? Anyways... the pain wasn't so bad and I managed it with ibuprofen. The second week, I felt pretty horrible - dizzy, heavy fatigue, hurt more again. Dentist said it was a "healing reaction" and that I'd feel better in a couple of days.
So a few days later I did start to improve. And knock on wood, I do think I feel better having this tooth out. I'm cautious in saying that, of course, since there are so many ups and downs with all of this, but somehow I do think it helped.
