I started using a CPAP machine last night. My symptoms have flared up more so than usual today, and some symptoms that were gone returned (such as achy joints). I also have a higher fever than usual.
I'm wondering if the CPAP could have possibly caused a herx. I'm wondering if since I was able to get a good night's sleep with uninterrupted breathing if that boosted my immune system or something and allowed my body to fight off infection more effectively therefore causing a herx.
Does anyone have any info or experiences with this? Thanks so much.

- It may not be a herx. A friend of mine had some issues with the tubing, etc.
Could it be the plastic tubing / mask material? Did it have time to air out for many days in fresh air of your home (not direct sun, though) before you used it, did it get washed as best possible to remove any outer "film" that might have collected even while in a bag, etc.?
As you say you got a good night's sleep (hooray!)
even if more oxygen got into the body, the hope is that the oxygen can help address borrelia, I'm just not sure that the amount you'd breath in just from your nose (as opposed to other oxygen treatments) could be enough on the first night so as to cause a herx.
I also don't think one night will set your immune function to top dance speed just yet. See if you can smell any odor from the tubing, mask.
Even if not, an eco-soap rather than harsh chemical soap would be best to cut some of that "grease" that is on nearly every item just.
Something like Better Life's Dish It Out unscented dish soap - it's about as mild a soap as I've found and it does cut grease.
perhaps a little lemon might, too ? Just be sure to rinse and let it dry well to the open air (or a very clean woven towel (not terry cloth). -

Yes, I can still smell odor from the mask. Great thought, Keebler. I will wash it again.

- Hope that helps. Sweet dreams. I've known a couple friends for home their CPAP turned around their lives. Raising a glass of chilled green tea to your success, too. -
