Is anyone taking this daily and where are you getting it?
I was using the tincture from Montana Farmacy for a while, but then I had to quit and switch to the Source Naturals tablets because of the alcohol.
Can't stand Source Naturals. My throat refuses to swallow them. I think there is something wrong with them. Plus now everything I eat tastes like the bottom of a train car.
Does anyone have a solid brand they're using that you don't have to put into gelcaps?

Haven't noticed anything good or bad from Knotweed in general. It is one of my faith-based supplements. Buhner please continue to bless us with your divine wisdom.

- I can't find that Source Naturals even makes a "Japanese Knotweed"
can you post the exact name - a link to the label / ingredients?
Might you mean their resveratrol? It's not the same thing - as an "extract" it might be far too strong and also missing some elements that the whole herb has -- or might be from other plants entirely.
Do check to see that it's not counterfeit, as is good to do with all Rx, supplements - every bottle we get.
Could be that if it's a tablet, it's just bitter and you are having a normal reaction to something bitter - or if it's a rough texture. Those things can be modified by "wrapping" it in some food.
Nothing is likely "wrong" with it as they are among the brands of highest quality, it's just that the FORM of it or their formula is just too strong for you probably - anytime you have such difficulty, that's usually the reason. The forms make all the difference very often.
In fact, very recently someone here at Lymenet had a post saying that Buhner mentions many can't "do" Source Naturals resveratrol and he now recommends getting different sources- in different forms such as a tinctures (that use the whole herb) where you have far more control over dose.
As you say you want to avoid alcohol tinctures, there are still ways to find a form that will work for you.
Just do not put this in very hot water, it will destroy the properties of any aerial herbs (above ground). Hot water only for below ground herbal tinctures (root, rhizome).
Slightly warm water, swirling in about 3/4 cup water might work.
And there may also be a powder form of whole herb in a capsule. Or buy whole herb - FINELY ground - stir in water and drink. Be sure any ground herbs do not also contain powders / fillers such as maltodextrin.
See Buhner's website / books for more details
JARROW's recommendation above, by project . . . they are also excellent brand -

Buhner originally recommended the Source Naturals because it had 400 mgs of Polygonum Cuspidatum as its source of resveretrol. So it is Source Naturals resveretrol.
I really prefer tinctures because they're easy to swallow and get in you fast. But once I had tinidazole on board any alcohol just blew my head up into a crushing migraine.
I didn't know about the hot water/above ground/below ground thing but I don't agree with people who say hot water will make the alcohol go away. It most likely will make some of the medicinal qualities of the herb go away too and I'm not sure if it gets rid of the alcohol unless you boil it.

Get the powder from 1stChinese and just add a scoop to a glass of water. That is the cheapest and easiest way.
I also add in some cordyceps and sarsaparilla powder and it almost becomes some kind of chocolate milk (without the sweet sugary taste of course!)
I buy it in bulk here in the Netherlands for about $20/lbs, but that is cut and sifted. So i grind up small batches with a coffee grinder (being careful not to overheat the stupid thing, knotweed is very tough!)

In Buhner's latest lyme book, looks like the prefers the tincture. I looked in a couple of places and that is what he likes for muscle twitches (page 229) and his neuroborreliosis protocol (page 216). That's all the looking I did.
I just finished macerating a quart of polygonum that I got from 1stchineseherbs but haven't used it yet.
