Has anyone ever had neck symptoms that go all the way around the neck?
I have the lyme neck stiffness down into my right shoulder, but also something like actual weakness all the way around my neck all the way to my collarbone, under my chin, just an ache all the way around. Sometimes like the whole neck column is full of fluid.
This goes all the way from my shoulder girdle up into my jaws and the floor of my mouth.
I don't think there's symptomatic relief for this but has anyone experienced this?

Especially when I was undertreated or suffering from bad herx I would have extreme neck problems-stiff, aching neck. I believe it is caused from the lympth nodes in and around the neck. Yes I know the extreme pain it causes.
My first suggestion is to assess whether you are receiving sufficient and/or effective treatment. Though I use naturals to supplement, for me, an effective antibiotic regimen is absolutely necessary. So are you receiving adequate treatment. This includes a cyst buster like flayyll or tindamax.
Also I use lot of aspirin for partial pain relief. Aspirin is the only over the counter pain remedy that actually works for me. For major pain as you describe to get any relief I would have to take at least three (3)regular strength aspirin at the same time.
You have my sympathy and empathy. Somehow, keep smiling.

I think I'm getting adequate treatment -- mino, zith and tinidazole.
It's weird, when I'm just feeling my regular symptoms I worry that I'm undertreating and I think I need to get on an IV. Then I hit a horrible herx and think I better knock down what I'm already doing.
I added zith to mino two weeks ago. Severe misery ever since. If I didn't get a day off from drugs every seven days I'd probably be in the hospital.

It can be useful to eliminate other possibilities for neck/shoulder pain.
For example, to check out with a good chiropractor whether there's any occipital/atlanto involvement. What that means is the junction where the skull meets the top of the spinal column, ie the atlas to the skull connection. I had a major symptom recovery when a chiropractor adjusted that connection.
Also to check with a cranial specialist re the head bones. I always feel better after such an adjustment.
I have heard that cranial nerves are inflamed and that is the reason for neck/shoulder pain. That would mean Lyme treatment.

I have similar neck issues. It is caused by the lime insect be the lower brainstem and C-1 through C4.
Basically the lyme is causing inflammation on C-1 through C4 which is pressing into my base of my nervous system. These nerves control from the top of my head through my shoulder and includes all areas of the neck.
So when I have a flair the nerve pinch is off and my neck begins to weekend and has actually atrophied. This is a very delicate situation for me and that I have to treat Lyme at the right level however if I over treat it may cause herx and inclination within my nervous system which has caused serious muscle atrophy.
The best thing you can do is detox detox detox detox.

Agree with SScott, a chiro adjustment, but also more draianage can be necessary to clear up that area.
Also, I haven't read everything here, but if you're not treating babs, it could be babs or proto. Just adding a med targeted for babs can alleviate neck pain (loves the neck).

You're right, Catgirl. I'm sure I've got babs. Doc is treating Lyme but babs might be worse.
