I don't know why this keeps happening but I don't like it. I'm taking abx plus canxida plus prescript-assist and progurt once a week, but I still keep getting these cracks in the corners of my mouth. One side or the other -- today it's both sides.
My b12, b vitamins, etc are fine too.
The only thing that helps is an antifungal cream - I'll just dab it once or twice in the corners of my mouth and that usually takes care of it.
I don't understand why though. I don't have thrush. Anybody have any ideas?

I've had this over one year. The redness is embarrassing and I've bought makeup that takes the red out.
But just two weeks ago, I saw a new dermatologist. When I showed him the other two Rx that didn't work--he said it's because they're creams and creams are irritating.
So he Rxd nystatin ointment instead and I THINK it's working. Too soon to be sure.
A naturopath had me on alkaline water and that didn't make a difference Lymetoo.

I've been told that this is caused by a mixed infection, primarily fungal. Diflucan usually heals completely and quickly.
I struggled with it myself for about a year when I was still a student after traveling overseas. I didn't think to go to the doctor at that time!
The only thing that helped me was (trust me, I tried tons of treatments...) the original flavor Burt's Bees lip balm, it was soothing and healing. It helped reduce the redness, inflammation, cracking, and pain. Eventually, it went away!

I've been using the stuff you get for a yeast infection. It does clear it up but it makes me suspicious about what else is going on.

I used nystatin cream on it and it helped. Chapstick, Vaseline, etc. only makes it worse. I've been told it happens sometimes when you're on antibiotics.

Thanks. It seems like any antifungal will work, but it keeps coming back.

Prick a Vitamin E capsule and apply it 3x/day for a couple of days. It works too,
