I'm planning on starting treatment (BVT) within the next month. I have a month-long trip planned for overseas next summer, and I'm concerned about being really sick and not able to go.

I know that some people stop their meds shortly before a trip to avoid herxing while they're gone, but I also know that you can't stop BVT altogether for very long (definitely not a month).

I'm wondering if cutting way back on the number of stings might solve that dilemma? Like cutting back to 1 sting at a time instead of 10 (or however many I'm doing at the time)? Anyone have experience with that?

You can stop for a month. You just have to test sting and ramp up again when you restart.

Bluelyme, my trip is for a month. My major concern is developing a sensitivity to it and not being able to go back to it once I return, since it's my only treatment option right now for financial reasons (it's the cheapest one I've found). Maybe I'll start playing Powerball...

Jordana, when you say it's ok to stop for a month, do you mean that it's unlikely that a sensitivity will have built up by that time, or just that you can do it but need to do a test sting when you start up again?

You can really develop sensitivity at any time. I don't really know the odds but if it happens, you can just go really really slow to desensitize with ministings. So yes you can do it, but you need to test sting when you start up again.

The more i sting the less i react ..it depends on site of inflammation and also heat of bees ..summer fall is the hottest most venom as they are at the height of gathering pollen etc ...

when i said to llmd im worried about tinidazole being carcinogenic she said worry bout the ketes .
when i was worried about port surgery (like wigging)
The tech said worry bout he ketes ...

my mother in law use to say dont sweat the petty, pet the sweaty..honestly if you have not taken abx i think your gut will make histamines better than most ...parasites may have to be addressed someday...but worry bout the ketes ...start soon...bees can be had for 10c a bee

How long would you all recommend stopping the stings before leaving for my trip? I'll be off of them for the month I'm gone plus however long I stop beforehand.

Would it partly depend on how sick I am (or am not) when the time comes? Or would it be better to time it with the typical cycle of Bb?

My cycle seems to be level-ish for a couple of months and then a really bad week or 2...would it be best to time it with that somehow?

I know I have a while yet (my trip doesn't start until the end of May next year), but it's my current obsession. ;-)
