Hello, I have had several ticks in me over the past 5 years and have had symptoms of lyme, but didn't realize it.

I just brushed it off as random foot, back, neck pain...etc.

A few months ago my neck locked up and I couldn't turn it without feeling excruciating pain.

I went to urgent care and was given steroid injections. I was getting married the next day so I HAD to do something to help my neck.

A few weeks later I started feeling like garbage. I suddenly had weird rashes on my body, bumps all over my cheeks (I've always had pretty flawless skin), dry, flaking cheeks,

rashes inside my left ear, worsened neck pain, back pain that is so bad and isn't helped by anything. I went to PT, massage therapist...etc.

I developed a sudden allergy to alcohol and will be violently sick 5 hours after drinking ONE beer.

My question to you is, can steroids change the results of a Lyme test?

Does this sound like something that would happen to someone with Lyme? Help!

Oh yes...on all accounts!

Your immune response is weakened by steroids, so your test is less likely to show a positive.

Steroids make the Lyme go deeper.

As my hands are signaling for me to stop now and you've seen some of the detail in previous threads, I'll just jump in with where you can find more detail. Really sorry for the situation.

You've also recently posted that you were to have seen a LLMD for the first time about a week ago. Hope that went well.

BTW: with symptoms as you describe and even one IND band on a Western Blot, lyme is very likely, indeed.

Topic: what do STEROIDS actually do to those with lyme? Risks, long term damage discussed. Links.

But, it's happened to many and with a good LLMD, there can be light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, I went to the LLMD and she said my Igenex test wasn't enough for her and that I have to take the Nano trap.

She also tested me for mold...etc. I have mold.

My Nano trap came back negative, but I started reading about the steroid thing and didn't even realize it could be part of this.

I've always had weird little things wrong with me, but after the steroids, it was full blown weirdness.

I don't drink at all anymore, but was so confused because I drank at my wedding and then developed the "allergy" shortly after.

I'm going to see a different LLMD because I don't trust that test. Seems like it hasn't been around long enough to really know if it's as reliable.

Just trying to figure all of this out and it's driving me crazy. I wish this was easier.
