I had Lyme in 2008 that was treated successfully with 7 weeks of IV Rocephin. Main symptoms were joint pain in elbows, knees and shoulders.

3 weeks ago joint pain reappeared in knees and elbows but it's really bad in my wrists, fingers, toes and foot too, which were never problem areas before.

Doc put me on 30 days of doxy/timdamex/flagyl... no relief.

Recent blood test show I'm <20 on the CD-57 *so weak immune system* but inflammation numbers from blood tests are in the 4's- so they're elevated.

I don't have any other Lyme symptoms but joint pain.

Is this Rhumatoid Arthritis that's been caused from a past Lyme infection *I've also tested positive for Mono antibodies and my blood work showed a positive Herpes 1 test* or do you think it's a Lyme coinfection? I know I wasn't bit again.

Has anyone else experienced this? Primary signs for RA are joint pain in hands, feet, wrists and ankles and increased inflammation scores.

Remember the book that documented the cases of juvenile RA that turned out to be Lyme? That's how Lyme was first identified.

So I would make sure to have a good LLMD on board and see what you can do.

7 Weeks of treatment isn't much.

I pray you can get better with proper treatment.

I have RA that has been apparently triggered by Lyme. I had a big Lyme treatment and am now dealing with the RA using LDI.
LDI is an immunotherapy that is dose dependent for success; i have yet to find the correct dose. In theory it 'shuts off the trigger' (in my case the LYme/co bacteria) and resovles the RA.

Feel free to pm me if you would like to hear more about it. You can google LDI and learn the basics if your're interested. Good Luck!

Are you sure you didn't get bit again?

I had Lyme in 2005, issues resolved with about 6 months Abx. During my illness, I had a tad bit of arthritis on knee, but by far not my main symptom - 1st time was more neuro.

Now I definitely got bit again in early September, had the rash with bite in middle, and my symptoms are swollen everything: ankle, foot, knee, elbow, knuckles and sore neck.

I made the mistake of going to infectious disease doc & he wants to diagnose me with Lupus/RA.

I see LLMD tomorrow. I am hoping beyond hope this can be fixed with Abx.

Slyme33: did you have any other symptoms other than RA? Night sweats, high temp?
