Hi. I am new to this forum and this community. For the past few months I have been recovering from a concussion and have had daily persistent headaches. During my last doctors visit my doctor ran a lyme disease test through Quest Diagnostics, not sure why. My Lyme AB screen came out positive and my immunoblot came out negative. However it did show reactivity on the 41 KD IGG band. Overall the test shows negative but could this still mean I have Lyme disease? I do not ever recall having a tick bite or red rash! Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

So sorry to hear about your concussion and headaches. Hope that gets straightened out soon!

As for the Lyme test, they are notoriously inaccurate. In Florida and other areas in the south there is a more dire situation regarding the tests.

There are many strains being found in ticks and people in studies in Florida, but no tests on the market to determine if someone is infected with those strains.

Please click on the "There is Lyme disease in Florida!" link located under the pink lifeguard stand.

www.FloridaLyme.org

Please look at the list of Lyme strains and other tick borne diseases found there. It is extensive.

For information on the lab tests, here is a direct link.

https://sites.google.com/site/floridalyme/lab-tests

This next link shows the Western Blot bands and their meaning.

https://sites.google.com/site/floridalyme/lab-tests/tests-explained

Less than 50% of people get a rash.

Less than 50% recall a tick bite.

If you have more questions after looking over the info above, just holler and someone will be glad to help you!

Hi! I'm so sorry to hear about how you've been feeling lately. I'm also from Florida so every doctor I went to thought I was crazy for saying I had Lyme when they so adamantly say "there's not Lyme in Florida!"

Well there is...bc My boyfriend and I were bit while camping in Ocala National Forest just north of Orlando. Apparently it is a well known Lyme area. We didn't go if out until 2 full years later but I would think about pursuing an LLMD or maybe even getting the test done again.

For me, I only had 3 out of 10 bands reactive on the Elisa and 2 bands reactive on the western blot. Lyme tests are extremelyflawef as they are testing the immune response of a immunosuppressant disease.

Hope you get some answers soon
