I have been doing low carb and no sugar for about two weeks.

I have developed horrific foul body odor and my urine smells to high heaven. the worst strongest cat pee you'll imagine.

in other words, I stink. really bad. no tooth. brushing, shower scrubbing, nothing works.

what the heck is going on?

Your body may be holding onto toxins with a low carb diet if not enough vegetables and color. The variety and brightness of color is just as important as the fiber provided.

Daily bowel movements are important, even twice a day for some, they say.

Maybe see if MORE carbs will help - in the "good" carb category. Nine servings a day, minimum is said to be the goal.

Chlorella can be very good to help reduce body odor.

You may be in a state of ketosis, which can be risky for some on too low carbs. Though it has some medical benefits, under very tight supervision for some -- and for short term - ketosis should be looked into so you can know how to prevent it, actually, IMO.

And if you are "in that neighborhood" very specific support methods are needed, beyond just chlorella, though that is certainly very important.

Of course, water spread out all during waking hours matters just don't go too low on carbs, we really need them . . . as I define carbs as food from the plant kingdom.

A massage . . . LYMPH massage, especially, might be of help, too, to move it all along.

Google: "lymphatic system" diagram

Some great charts here, and check out YouTube for self-massage, lymphatic. It's very gentle.

A warm - not hot - bath, too, will help with sweating. Just be sure not to be too low in blood sugar as warmth can trigger a hypoglycemic event (as can happen if carbs are too low).

Chlorella is one of the best foods there is. It's so easy to take, just start low and slow with a good amount of water afterward.

See Brussels' post here, but it need not be taken "as a binder" as just as a food that helps the body to remove metabolic waste:

With doing low carb you might be burning fat, which would be releasing toxins as they tend to be stored in fat. The body will push them out any way they can, especially through the skin which can make for body odor.

Chlorella most definitely, as it is also a binder and the chlorophyll helps with body odors. Binders are a must if you are losing weight, as burning fat will spill stored toxins into body for elimination.

Extra water to flush, good salt to hold minerals and prevent dehydration (Phinney and Volek recommend around 5 grams which prevents the body from losing lean mass), binders, and kidney/lymph/liver (detox) support will all be very helpful to you.

IMO, a low carb diet is not a good way to loose weight and, even the opposite can be the result.

I urge everyone to stop doing things that are unnatural to try to loose weight. All the things we thought we knew about all that, well, so many are just so wrong.

Along with enough good protein and fats, we really need a good supply of carbohydrates in order to loose weight. A low carb diet can be a terrible set-up and be very hard on a body, especially when ill when we need all the vegetables we can get.

In those dealing with lyme and other chronic stealth infections IMO, it's best to just not focus on the scale but on the quality of food, selective types but never deprivation. Focus on getting enough nutrients, enough flavor in real, whole foods and minimal chemicals or processed foods. It's good to avoid sugar, of course but not the real carbs.

One of the best things I ever did was to throw away my scale.

Inflammation can have much to do with weight. Specific carbs - those more brightly colored - can help with that.

Something to consider for anyone with any kinds of intestinal challenges - a different way of looking at things -- some things here that I never considered (about complex veggies) yet sound like it's worth a good look:

I can't imagine being sugar free and not losing weight. That usually does the trick for me.

Are you consuming artificial sugar? That will be counter-productive.

I call it low carb. it's no sugar, nothing white, no flour, rice, potatoes, dairy. just meat and some vegetables, eggs.

I don't exercise. I'm just too tired. I sleep from 10 to about 6, just catnaps really.

so much to understand. what to do, what not to do, what to take, not take.

it's overwhelming.

No need to reply, just things to consider:

"some vegetables" may not be enough. Three servings with each meal is the goal - or two with each and the 3 veggie snacks a day, too.

Are you taking antioxidants (they are vital to include)? Are you getting enough good fats?

Organic foods are very important to keep inflammation down.

Do you have edema, sometimes call either pitting or non-pitting edema? They can mean different things but most with chronic lyme can have various kinds. Some kinds mean the heart or kidneys might need better support, etc.

Some basics here:

nope, I've checked for sucrose, lactose, aspartame, molasses, honey, you name it. drink water only. lots of it.

I cannot figure it out. but have to say I am not exercising at all. I'm too tired.

I only lost one pound. . my sister lost 7 in one week!!!!

I dont dare ask that crummy doc for bloodwork jus cause I haven't lost weight.

I've never had to exercise in order to lose weight, but it speeds it up.

Very good on eliminating white foods!! Congrats.. just keep going.

Also... get your thyroid checked .. AGAIN. Go see an endocrinologist if need be. I find that most of them will NOT use things like Nature Throid, but they will at least test you properly.
