My doc may do it my next visit (start of April). This is due to my Igenex results, which say I have Lyme, current infection (IGM), but my past (IGG) bands are only 41. So she thinks my body has not recognized and is not fighting the Lyme. Good sites on this is here: http://imcwc.com/html5-blank/low-dose-allergy-lda-therapy/ http://www.betterhealthguy.com/ldiPosts: 606 | From sw suburbs of chicago, Illinois | Registered: Mar 2016

The woman I bought my chamber from has had great success with it- why she sold me her chamber I think. She uses a place out of CA- Holtorf Medical. Just an FYI.

Hey thanks guys! My dr wants to try it on me.
The only 'bad' thing I read was here: "Because most Lyme symptoms are caused by an overproduction of inflammatory cytokines by the immune system, it makes sense that decreasing inflammation can help a person feel better. What is not clear yet is if turning down all of this inflammation through LDI keeps the germs under control long-term. On the one hand the cytokines turn the immune system on to fight germs. On the other hand in excess they give Lyme symptoms and can suppress the immune system. So regulating the cytokines with low dose immunotherapy could decrease symptoms and help the immune system work better to keep the germs under control. However, it is possible LDI could suppress the immune system which would allow the germs to overgrow and cause greater problems down the road. At present we have no research to guide us as to which of these situations is true." Via treatlyme.net
Does it actually suppress the immune sys at all? And what about herxing?

I know it can cause flares. But they say if you do flare that it will probably work for you, even though that also means you have to take less.
I think the diehards would say it doesn't cause immune suppression. It simply makes your system not overreact to the foreign invaders.
Having said that, I don't think anyone truly knows. Only that is does help some people.
If My symptoms weren't strongly in my head, I would try it in a minute. But I cannot afford to "experiment" with my head/brain!
I also will say there are lots of people who have lyme that seemingly live with it very well.
Others are so sick! My brother in law is one! He even has babesia. he takes a little ivermectin and moves right along with life. I do think there definitely is an out of control immune response with some.
BTW, I looked into this heavily because Holtorf wanted me to try it too.

The thing is, I"m getting sort of conflicting info on this...my doc, from what she said to me, says it will make my body recognize the lyme and thus, attack it. But my reading says it ups the Treg cells, which lower the Thelpers, thus lowering immune response. Those 2 seem to contradict.
I agree, your body can overreact. She seems to think, due to only recognizing band 41, but very strongly (three pluses) via Igenex that its an old infection and is hiding, and thus my body is not recognizing the lyme, so its not fighting it. Tho now, I have many more symptoms than, say 5 years ago. Which is why I saw my pcp doc in the first place about 3 yrs ago (bone pain). Now lots more symptoms.

I never heard that it helps your body recognize the Lyme and attack it. But It has been a while since I researched it.
It obviously must not supress your immune system in a harmful way, otherwise people would be getting very permanently sick! (like they can on steroids)
Its awful how we don't know where to turn...but
guess, its like everything... we try... If it helps you please let us know here on lymenet!

I tried it. Didn't help me. Before investing in it, which is more of an investment of time than money, read the booklet the doctor gives you about it really well. If you have any of the problems that the booklet says will make the treatment not work, then don't waste your time on it.
But if you don't have any of those problems, and you are willing to make a large, long-term investment of time, it might help. People it does help, it helps a lot. Wish it had helped me.

thanks GVS, I wish it would have worked for you too!
I had always heard that there were many different shots you can take... like lyme.... babesia.. epstein barr... allergies... etc? Are you sure you just didn't try the right one for you?????
Your right on the time though. it does sound like it is a lot of trial and error although, I think that Dr Ty has gotten pretty good at it!
Do you know the name of the booklet?
