Hey all,

My Candida is extremely resistant, my mouth and throat are swelling with it. Diflucan, nystatin, and mycelex don't work. My doc has prescribed Voriconazole (vfend). New stuff always scares me. Just wondering if anyone knows much about it.

Haven't been around here much, I'm just way too sick. Hopefully I'll be able to come back around here more one day soon.

Thanks everyone.

Have you tried Niacin yet? I had great results with 3g daily of flush-free niacinamide.

I haven't tried niacin, but because of my POTS and heart issues, the vasodilation that niacin would cause kinda concerns me. Thanks for the suggestion though. I still might look into it further.

Extremely effective on even many resistant strains of candida & fungi. Also safe.

You've not had success with Itraconazole & Diflucan. Since your symptoms persist, you clearly need a stronger treatment.

I'm glad that you'r doctor is addressing your needs. Vfend is very very very expensive. It is not prescribed lightly. I imagine that you needed a prior authorization & possibly a peer review.

I would take Vfend in a heartbeat if in your shoes.

Sort to hear that things have been so bad for you lately. Me too... Been hospitalized and caring for my mom that just got out of the hospital after being ther for 10 weeks. She has extensive medical needs...

Thanks for the input Sammy! Vfend has actually gone generic so it's not as expensive as it used to be. I didn't need prior authorization, but my copay is still gonna be $100. Without insurance you can get it for around $350. I've paid more for medications in the past, so this really isn't too bad to me,

Sorry to hear things have been bad for you and your mom too Sammy. 10 weeks is a long time to spend in a hospital. I hope both of you can find some relief somehow soon.

Do a search here. I know it helped a former member here. His name escapes me right now.

I'll go find it.

Thanks Lymetoo (: I did a search but everything I found was so old, I was kinda wondering if anyone still used it or not or if any new warnings had been discovered. But the threads I found about it did seem to speak highly of it.
