Can anyone tell the difference between a flare and a herx? If you are treating, is it pretty much the same thing?
Oh, I feel blessed the have the good days that I do, but MAN the hard days are still so hard.
I guess I should be glad that what I'm doing is making me herx right? Or disappointed that I'm not progressing? I never quite know how to feel about the backward step.

Herx and flare are the same thing.
Once your current meds no longer make you herx, then you will have to switch to a different med with a different killing profile.
Then, you will most likely feel bad again. So, that is the forward/back. But, really, it is all forward with some flares or bad days.
It is not a step back at all.
The way you see the progress is if you make note of the symptoms that left. Also, if your flares get milder and milder.
The herx is good because it means your meds are killing the germs. If you don't herx on a med, then you have to wonder if it is really working. Of course, if you are getting better, then you also know that it is working.
So, herxes and getting better are the ways you know that you are on the right track.
Also, if you are able to increase dosages of meds, that is another way (for those who have had to work up to full doses).
