When I was sick, I had trouble with alkaline foods. I guess Lyme patients can have a build up of ammonia, which is alkaline.
Now, I go on a raw vegan diet, which is alkaline, for about a month at least once a year. Right now I'm eating probably 80% or more raw vegan after a month of raw vegan only. I do feel more energy. I always lose bloat on this diet as well.
Ironically, I always feel more satisfied after eating. This time when I ate my first meal that was not raw vegan, I was full afterward, but still felt hungry. No wonder we overeat. On the raw vegan foods, I don't feel full, but I am no longer hungry.
Take it slowly if it causes symptoms. The first time I ate raw vegan for an extended period of time I ended up detoxing so fast that I got a kidney infection. I eat something cooked and acidic if I have any kind of symptoms.
