Because both ankles are affected at same time is it possible that this can be from arthritis. There is no swelling but after a very stressful event this occurred.. I still have twitching in my lower legs but that has been the only lyme symptom for a while.

I've had both knees swell up and all bloodwork shows no arthritis. It definitely can come from lyme and for me I was finally diagnosed with Bartonella. I had lyme and babesia but my doctor never diagnosed the bart. My new doctor listened to my symptoms and diagnosed it and then dna confirmed it.
Make sure you have a good llmd. It makes all the difference.

We call it lyme arthritis!
Many other pathogens may cause arthritis too.
And do not believe it's only ONE pathogen that inhabits the joints: you can get staph together with candida, together with borrelia...
Arthritis is just the name for the condition meaning: joint inflammation.
At least, that is how I see it!

Two approaches help me - taking capsules of turmeric takes down pain in joints and muscles. I get it in bulk at the health food store, dip 00-size capsules in it and take one in the am and pm.
The other is whenever I got lymphatic drainage massage - helped all joint areas ease up.

Arthritis is just a name for joint symptoms which are caused by any number of different pathogens.
Sadly, there are some physcians that still cling to the belief that arthritis is a result of the immune system attacking healthy joints for no good reason.
