If you decide to take it, let me know if it helps! I have CMV and not really anxious to take Valtrex for it. I'm like you .. not sure it will help.
Taking antibiotics probably does not help our bodies... an anti-viral is another story.

I'm sure you'll have other responses and some more recent, I hope. Almost twenty years ago when I underwent IV ABX and orals for LD and co-infections, my LLMD used Valtrex to treat a viral load that presented with a lacy, measles, Rubella like rash and other viral symptoms. I wasn't on it long, but I felt it made a difference.
I believe the rationale your LLMD is using may be similar. Valtrex has been found to suppress virus activity and decrease the inflammation and neurological dysfunction. In a subset of children with Autism and viral loads, it’s now thought to help to increase glutathione production.
Treatments have come so far since my own experience and I haven't kept up. Maybe somebody will share a more recent experience. Please request clarification from your doctor if you have concerns. I, however, found it very helpful at the time and I it didn't seem to have a downside.
