Hello,

I am sure this has been a common discussion but I did not find recent results from searching.

I got a negative results for Lyme from Western Blot tests. 1 Band at one point and another band at another.

I called Igenex and they said Immunoblot was most comprehensive and recom mended the serum as well to look for spirochete DNA.

Can people weigh in on best ways to confirm lyme disease? Also success with third party reimbursement from insurance companies?

Thank you!

Yes, Igenex is the best. It's also important to go to a Lyme-Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD), as most doctors are not knowledgeable about Lyme and co-infections.

Hi Oaktree:

In 23 IgeneX Western Blots my daughter never tested positive under IgeneX or CDC standards. At any one time she only had 3 positive markers.

She did culture positive from Advanced Labs (and the same blood draw for the IgeneX WB only had 1 indicated, not even a positive).

She also had 2 positive DNA's and also the same blood draw sent to IgeneX was negative (although she did have 2 positive and 2 indicative markers on one of them).

This long story is even if IgeneX is negative does not mean you don't have Lyme. There are specific antigen markers for Lyme and even 1 shows exposure to the spirochete.

Good luck and Igenex is the best for the WB. The other labs are worse (and won't even provide the markers unless the physician requests it when the test is done.

Thanks for input, someone messaged about DNA Connexions which I have heard of before. All quite expensive so want to get one that is most likely to be accurate!
