Hi,
I have been getting a new tick bite every winter for the past few years. I live in CT. I don’t hike anymore.

My only exposure could be my relatives dogs. One dog has a tick collar ( soresto?) but is outside a lot and takes walks twice a day through the underbrush.

The other family has 3 dogs who I don’t think have tick collars. In both families the dogs are on most of the furniture and the beds.

What do you guys do when visiting and staying [bonk]

with families with dogs? Has anyone taken Doxycycline as a preventative measure? If so what dose?

You don't want to take antibiotics when you don't need them - they are hard on the GI tract. You can take colloidal silver if you want to prevent an infection. It is antibacterial, but doesn't have the side-effects that antibiotics have. Also, do thorough tick checks every night and use insect repellent.

All it would have taken for me is one tick bite. I would tell these family members that for your health, you can no longer visit them until they take tick prevention serious in their homes.

Several years ago at my sisters house, I was bitten numerous times by fleas. They had cats that roamed around outside in the woods and roamed the house.

Within 3 days I was deathly ill with another unknown illness. I told them I won't be back until you have had this house treated and the cats treated and prevention in place.

They listened and realized some other family members were also being bitten. It's wasn't just the crazy Lyme lady.
