Just now started having pounding in one ear. Felt some ear wax but appears clear. Can lyme cause this. Is it the ear wax read on internet-blood vessel, artery, tmj. Sounds like I cant get rid of it. Worried. Should I see an ent, pop, or cardiologist. Another severe annoying unbearable symptom.

If it is pulsate tinnitus and new, I would call my ENT, if you have one. Otherwise, let your PCP or LLMD know. It might be nothing, but because it could be cardiovascular, I think it would be best to get checked out. Good luck and please keep us posted!

I went to an ENT prior to being sick again for ear wax removal and he thought I had hearing loss in this ear which might be caused by a brain tumor on a nerve. I didn't get the hearing test done. I could hear well & I wasn't looking for any trouble. Thanks for responding. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.

Pounding in the ears may not be "pulsatile tinnitus." Does it follow the heartbeat? If so then it is probably a problem related to blood vessels and you may need to see an interventional neurologist. ENT's can determine if it is something else but if they have no answer, you would have to look into the other diagnoses.

They say that is what pulsative tinnitus is. The ear hears the heartbeat due to a restricted blood vessel.
