If slippery elm is taken with Diatomaceous Earth, will it get in the way of DE's effects?

In particular, can DE work if there's a chance slippery elm might be absorbing it?

I'd love to be able to take them together, to take advantage of more than just the toxin-binding capacity of DE. Slippery Elm does a number of stomach-calming, additional binding things in addition to DE, and isn't expensive.

I would think the concern would be that the DE would strip the effectiveness of the slippery elm.

DE removes minerals and vitamins if not taken 2 hours away from them.
