hello
it has been a while since i posted. just brief synopsis - i had lyme back in 1994 and got treated with 2 weeks of iv Rocephin. i did get the large bullsey rash and also bells palsey. i did recover from it i thought.

But in 2000 i started to feel bad and i had a lumbar punction and low and behold i had lyme again.. never had any rash. mind you i do not go into any woods for hiking, i live in the city, and only have gone to long island but again not doing any type of walking in the woods.

I was treated the latter time with 4 weeks of Rocephin. All these years of course when i get tested i am told i am negative..

lately i asked to see the lyme test and i see 4 positive bands if i had 5 i would be treated.. is this possible. i still have aches sometimes, tinnitus for years now..

i believe i need some abx..here are the bands:93 igg, 66 igg, 41 igg, 39 igg,...should i not be treated even a couple of weeks to see if i feel better? any help would be appreciated.

(breaking up the post for easier reading for many here)

The only way you will get help is if you find an LLMD who knows how to read a test.

That said, once you are positive for Lyme, you are always positive for Lyme.

Bands 93 and 39 are the DNA of the Lyme spirochete.

If you are feeling poorly, then I would find an LLMD and get some treatment.

(PS.. What is a lumbar punction?)

Lymetoo - I think it was supposed to say "lumbar puncture" = spinal tap

Welcome back to Lymenet! PM sent for NYC & CT.

So sorry you are going through this once again. You must get properly treated.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the NY Lyme Support Groups at:

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy them used online.

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.

To do this click the pencil/paper tab, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.
