I have a positive test result from DNA connections. It’s a PCR test, so I’ve heard they are pretty accurate.
But B. bacilliformis is a South American strain of bartonella. I have in fact been to peru, so it is possible I picked it up, but usually it’s a pretty difficult infection and I never got sick.
I’ve been trying to figure out if this is a real result, or a false positive. My other bartonella tests are all negative.
I’m just worried that this is a false positive as this isn’t an infection endemic to the US. Or, maybe it’s cross reactivity to a similar bartonella species.
I just don’t know if I should trust this test result.
