I would like to start off by saying i have gone to an opthamologist a month ago and he found no emergency.

However 6 months ago i got two styes and i have MRSA. After that 3 months i would wake up with sticky eyes. In January i starting have issues with adaptation to dark vs light at nights. I would go blind for seconds completely.

Past two months floaters have increased and have gotten bigger and now i can even see them in dark because they show up as spots in my vision.

Now i see flashing lights all the time and my vision is almost becoming as a flickering vision and snowy.

I have always had floaters for past 10 years since i started have onset of lyme symptoms. This is extreme and so abnormal.

I do not know where to start. I take no medications and doctors here in Europe are careless.

Does anyone have had severe vision problems? Am i risking my vision?

Consider treating for parasites (they love the eyes). Visit THE PARASITE WARRIORS THREAD (lots of info there).

Yes!! Flashing lights like that can be an emergency! It can be either a detached retina, which is an emergency. To check it out, you need to see a retinal specialist first thing this week. Ask for a

referral to a good retinal specialist. Your opthalmologist was remiss in not sending you to one ASAP.

The other possibility for the flashing lights is detached vitreous, which is NOT an emergency. BUT only a retinal specialist (an opthalmologist who specialized in retina's) can tell for sure.

You should insist on being squeezed in immediately.

Beyond that symptom, it sounds like borrellia, etc. in your eyes. Can you get a referral to a Lyme Literate/Lyme friendly opthalmolgist for this? Plus, treatment for the rest of you for the infections, etc.?

It drives me crazy to hear of opthalmologists being so laissez faire about something that might be serious----or not. But don't take a chance. Geez! Let us know what happens. That's an awful lot of eye symptoms.

PS Do you live in a major city where there is an urgent care facility where there might be a retinal specialist? Probably not many places have such a facility, but if so, go this weekend. Otherwise, first thing Monday.

I would cross that ophthalmologist off my list, if I were you.

She says "doctors here in Europe are careless."

I know that lyme disease can make a person go blind for a short period of time. A friend of mine had everything go black for 15 minutes once.

And, on Under Our Skin there is a guy who says he has gone temporarily blind hundreds of times.

Sonee, there ARE some lyme specialists in Europe. Sounds to me like you need to go back on lyme medication.

sonee, I went to a neuro-opthalmologist who did all his tests, which I passed though he had to anesthetize me to be able to look at light. He wanted to give me steroids, which I knew was a no-no for Lyme - I had been recently diagnosed.

So then my chiropractor the next day suggested I try drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory juice that scarfs up free radicals created by inflammation.

And it worked! My eye symptoms were gone in 24 hours - and they had been floaters, light sensitivity, eye muscle pain and beginning blurriness - it was that last sx that caught my attention.

Then my sinuses ran for 48 hours even though I had no sinus sx, my intestines ran for 72 hours and I now also drink mangosteen juice to prevent constipation, and my gums didn't bleed after 96 hours. So that's one powerful juice.

I drank too much of it in the beginning! I now drink about an ounce a day. No eye problems ever again.

If you want to try it, it's found in health food stores and online. I like the Mango-Xan version, as it's the most tart.

Just keep in mind we're all different in terms of what we respond to. If it helps, great.

My husband (doesn't have lyme) has been drinking one oz of mangosteen juice for about a month. It has gotten rid of his long-standing eye inflammation so that he no longer has to put steroid drops in his eye.

Thanks to Robin for telling us about it!

Great, TF - it's good to hear feedback on whether mangosteen juice is working for others.

So, it has 43 xanthone compounds in the ground-up rind that neutralize free radicals created by inflammation.

I will order Mangosteen juice i have read up on it before on Lymenet but the only website which can deliver to Denmark is iHerb and not sure which one is good?

I live in Copehnagen. I have made an urgent appt tomorrow morning with an opthamologist. Not even sure if they have retinal specialist here.

When i say doctors are careless i mean that! They take Lyme as a joke when i tell them my neuro symptoms they are like ok whatever.

No doctor has been helpful for almost 6 years here and last year i got MRSA to add on top of Lyme.

I have gone to Germany and have spents thousands of dollars on Dr. W with no help maybe even worst. its not like i am just ignoring it and living on.

One thing i need to change is diet and i get that but when my vision is going down as fast as it is its scary and i find no help! People laugh at me when i tell them i get bling at night...its just draining [Frown]

Sonee.. I wouldn't even mention Lyme when it comes to the eyes. Unless the doctor is Lyme-literate, it does no good.

I found this one on iherb, but still not impressed with ANY I found there.

http://eu.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Organic-Mangosteen-Superfruit-Juice-32-fl-oz-946-ml/14013

Nothing really compares to Xango's mangosteen. I think the one Robin uses is Mango-Xan and it does come close to Xango's quality.

But the ones at iherb .. NOT SO MUCH.

The Mango-Xan version I drink comes from Pure Fruit Technologies in Utah. Their site has a toll-free number.

Xango is the purest and strongest, but we need to be able to tolerate it. I get a headache from it. I guess it's too strong for me. Others, like Lymetoo, love it.

Yes, you can see the doctor to see if they'll find anything. Keep in mind that my neuro-opthalmologist did all his tests and I passed them, even though he had to anesthetize my eyes to look at light.

It can be like that sometimes with Lyme - our malady doesn't show up in their tests.

Flashing lights can mean a detached retina. A black curvy thread in the field of vision is definitely a detached retina. If you call an opthalmologist, they should get you in right away and while you wait, call the best retina specialist they know and get you a same day appointment for a repair.

I had detached retinas in both eyes and had 300 laser tags in one eye and 33 in the other. My vision today is the same as it was before the laser repair. With Lyme, I now have dry eye. I use Restasis in the morning and evening in the eyes and Similasin (homeopathic) Dry Eye during the day if they feel dry.

Best of luck.

I have the worst vision after taking levaquin. It causes deterioration and all kinds of retina problems after stopping the drug. Damage can show up months or years after taking it.

I saw and ophthalmologist who knew all about lyme as well as problems caused by fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Lyme causes optic nerve damage.

Fluoroquinolones cause tons of other problems for the eyes (retina problems, muscle degeneration, and all kinds of nasty stuff).

Find a GOOD ophthalmologist. A retinal specialist may be able to offer some insight.

Be careful of being prescribed fluoroquinolone eye drops.

Hi,

So i had an urgent appointment this morning with an opthamologist.

She heard me throughout my health issues with Lyme, Latent TB and MRSA.

She then dialited my eyes and she used anesthesia to inset a lense in my eyes and check the eyes throughout.

Apparently she found NOTHING! No detached retina (thank GOD) no damage to optic nerver.

However she concluded since nothing showed up on the test she will not treat me for ANYTHING!

So apprently my vision going insane is all in my head?

Does anyone know of any homeopathic specialist that can help me with these eye issues and Lyme?

Also i am in contact with Mango-Xang they might ship it to me here in Denmark lets see.

I am willing to pay all i got to get that juice here and try it out.

Sigh....no help found here once again [Frown]

Whew, at least it isn't a detached retina; that's what scared me about what you were saying. That said, you still need TBD treatment, and something to help the eye symptoms.

There are other good Lyme doctors in Germany besides Dr. W, who only does what he does. There's also EuroLyme to see about other doctors in Europe.

Personally, I started seeing double when I was on a fluoroquinolone, so after several tendon issues and the eye stuff, I will never take one again. So I second that caution. Too bad, the quininne I was on was like magic for my neuro stuff (only on a few days). But the side-effects a a no-go. Serious.

Very good - you did the right thing - you got conditions ruled out, and we cannot do that for you here.

Did you see what I wrote here about my passing all their tests? Lyme is like that - it's a bacterial infection! They're not looking for that. It's we who need to find out what our infections respond to.

Actually, my neuro-opthalmologist gave me a steroid, which I knew was a no-no for Lyme. So I think it's great that your doctor didn't give you anything bad, is my take on it.

Don't buy in to people saying we're crazy or insane or whatever else they choose to say. They do not understand Lyme borreliosis. It's a complicated bacterium.

I just listened to the 1st day of the Chronic Lyme Disease Summit (5 experts every 24 hours starting at 10am EST) and there was much discussion of how the bacteria were bioengineered to become more virulent.

One of the ways they apparently did this was to increase the number of plasmids, which are extra DNA on the bacteria. They increased the plasmids in research from 3 naturally, to 7 and then to 21.

That's bioengineered. That means the bacteria can present different proteins on its surface as it wishes, according to the environment it finds itself in. I write this to give you a sense of what we're up against. Now to find remedies!

Good for you for contacting Pure Fruit Technologies. I personally think they're doing some great work and they're very friendly. The Mango-Xan juice is a good one.

Go slow at first with the juice - it can be powerful.

You might also keep in mind the Xango one, if you ever want to try it. It's even stronger. Too strong for me but not for others. Lymetoo knows about it here.

Thank you so much for your support.

Though i am relived to know its not detached Retina it still is really scary what my vision is doing.

I have strings and strings of long floaters that are increasing in numbers everyday along with flashing lights.

The doctor even said the optic nerve looks fine. I just dont get why such extreme symptoms and no visual on the damages...this bacteria/infection is the WORST!

Lymetoo i tried to message you. I can order the Xango one then since its available in Europe.

http://mangosteendrink.co.uk/checkout/ is this the site?

I did like you- went to so many eye specialists and al found nothing... it was very discouraging.

luckily , most of my eye sx went away when I treated for lyme and tick disease using mostly herbs. ( I cound't take abx) Now visual thigns are coming back and I think it is becasue of my B12 issues for sure... AND I think that when I was at my worst in lyme sx with all this eye stuff that it WAS caused by the diseases, but that it may have been my body's response becasue I have a clear issue with vitamin absorption,

making me malnourished. plus a very limmited diet is not helping.

SONEE123, I hope you find answers and that the juice helps.

I tried it once and it was so bad tasting to me. I must have a strange toungue.

please Robin, and Lymetoo, tell me AGAIN how to drink this drink! (sorry I keep forgetting!). I want to take it but it is the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life, adn that says a lot becasue I can take OSHA without even batting an eye! haha.

are there taste differences? Robin, when you say that is it "more tart" what does that mean? is the other kids syrupy sweet or somethign? I dont really like tart in a juice so much, but I don't like syrup either.

sonee .. my mailbox is open now. .. sorry! You have the right brand there in the link.

Lisa.. The pill form MIGHT help .. depends upon whether or not they included the RIND in the formula. if it is made from the pulp, then it doesn't have what you really need. The RIND is the big deal. They can say it's 100% mangosteen, but if it's all pulp, there isn't much in the way of "medicinal quality."

That's why I love Xango. It's got more rind than any other juice.

Re questions about the Mango-Xan juice version, it's the most tart in that it lists less sugar on the label than other juice blends. It's mixed with a tart cherry juice. I just think it's a good idea not to drink so much sugar, but that's a matter of preference.

I don't mind the taste of it. I guess you could always mix the ounce with another juice that will give you more juice flavor.

Mango-Xan is a juice blend; Xango is the pure mangosteen juice.

I've never tried a pill, as the juice works for me. My first one was Ultra mangosteen, the one that caused my first big reaction. But the company halved the amount of mangosteen juice they put in it and it didn't work anymore for me.

So I found the Mango-Xan one and it keeps all my Lyme eye symptoms at bay and keeps my intestines regular.

How much sugar is in Mango-Xan? I think Xango's is 3 grams per ounce.

Lisa ..it's no more acid than drinking any other juice. I know people whose acid reflux was helped by drinking mangosteen juice.

Here is info on Lyme and the eyes for sonee:

Definitely see a retina specialist asap to be checked out. For floaters, Buhner recommends Stephania Tetrandra tincture which is available on Amazon. It also has other benefits for Lyme disease. You probably should go back on Lyme treatment.

Lymetoo, just checking sugar content in Mango-Xan here - says 2g in 1 oz serving size.

Lisa, I don't mind the taste of Mango-Xan - it's a mixture of 6 other juices as well - very pleasant to me.

Sonee, if the doctor has checked you out, that's a good thing. Have you tried drinking mangosteen juice yet? Lots of varieties.

No Lyme treatment ever affected my eyes, only this juice. That's my experience.

Just wanna chime in and say that I have flashing lights too. Most noticeable when going from light to dark lighting. It's just a symptom for me. It comes and goes. Antibiotics have helped it at times. So have no fear!! It'll get better one way or another. [Smile]

Hello Robin and all:

I am having some of the same issues. Are you still having luck with this mangosteen juice? I have had this following a novocaine injection. Has anyone found anything else helped with the eyes? I was about to request steroids but wondering that the other options are? I was thinking of making anti-inflammatory juices? Pomegranite juice? CBD? Green tea?

Hi - continued good results all the way. No eye issues for me! I drink around an ounce a day.

I'm not sure there is anything else for the eyes that is as strong as the mangosteen rind - it has 43 xanthone compounds that scarf up the free radicals.

No, steroids are not recommended for us.

Am i risking my vision?

sonee, I went to a neuro-opthalmologist who did all his tests, which I passed though he had to anesthetize me to be able to look at light.

CBD? Green tea?

Steroids destroy the immune system. This is information from the 2018 Charles Holman Foundation Lyme conference. The videos are in YouTube in case anyone's interested. The presenter at the conference said it is a disaster for someone with lime.

I once went to the top ophthalmologist. He had a million dollars worth of equipment. He found nothing. He went on to provide incorrect information about vision degradation. When I corrected him, and told him that my source was dr. Thomas Levy regarding vitamin C, he admitted he was wrong.
