I've been seeing Dr. S in Chadds Ford. Before that, Dr. B in West Chester.
Dr. S. requires I drive in to his office every day (4-5 days a week). It takes me a good 2.5 hours to get there, and some days as much as 4 hours to get home because I hit rush hour in every city I drive through, plus I'm just washed out from infusing...major brain fog.
Dr. S. claims Medicare will not pay for home health care.
I've argued this (literally) with Dr. S. because I don't feel too safe driving with my eyes tearing profusely. It is like I am driving with sand in my eyes the whole way there and back. It's painful and my mind is not on the road.
I called Medicare today and I need to meet certain criteria for it to be covered. As helpless as Dr. S. is pretending to be, HE is the one who could determine I am "homebound", at which point I could get skilled nursing care for my infusions covered.
Anybody have Medicare? I'm starting to think this has to do with money. Plus, I'm almost positive there is something going on besides Lyme, though my coinfections were negative first time.
Something gets really *angry* shortly after I infuse. I feel it in my head and mouth.
If you have Medicare, please let me know if Medicare covered home health/skilled nursing for your infusions. Thanks!

I haven't used medicare for home health but a family member had home infusions (not lyme related)... the nurse came once a week to change the dressing and stuff.

I think it's worth looking into. All that driving every day is nuts! I know I would not be able to do it. I'd be falling asleep behind the wheel.
As for Medicare not paying for home health care, I know that is not true in general. My mother had in-home care and it was covered by Medicare.
Good luck!
