My dear friend is exhibiting symptoms involving myalgias and intense generalized pain, photophobia, aches and pains, severe asthma. She's a long term asthmatic.
Her doc is brushing her along as she will not prescibe pain meds for her and she is in agony. Afraid to give narcotics to grieving widow.....She is not the sort of person to abuse these meds...she knows addiction and the risks.
Went to Er two days ago. ER doc said diffuse myalgia...most likely caused by some viral infection or in response to declining dosages of predinisone for acute asthma attacks lately. He wants her to receive tx for pain, but pain management docs will label her as grieving widow, psych case...She is not that sort of woman by an means.
Her battle with asthma is longstanding and complex.
She needs a doc who can think outside of the box, test for lyme and coninfections and do a good work up for differential diagnosis...Someone like an LLMD.
We''ve been like sisiters for decades. She's traveled to the lyme indemic areas with me in the past twenty years...Could be lyme and other bugs..could be something else, piggy backing on the high prednisone taper and opportunisticly attacking her poor body
Either way, she needs help and the conservative medical system in Richmond is hard pressed to see her as an interesting case rather than a middle aged woman who lost her husband last year...She is made of sterner stuff than that. If she reports a symptom, it's genuine.
By profession she is a bereavement counsellor and pastoral care counsellor. She is a midwife for the dying...and a remarkably spiritual woman who can tell a good dirty joke...She is my dearest friend.
If you know of anyone in the RIchmond area who is an independent thinker, willing to actully examine and treat what is presented to him/her, please forward contact information to me ASAP
This woman is a one in a million friend and human being. Any help in saving her would be most gratefully appreciated...I need to keep her in my life, so would appreciate your support!
Thank you, Carol Ann
