Seeking help. A friend is telling me to take a trip to Missouri to see a Doctor her daughters seeing. I don't know what I have, but I don't like it.
Have had various symptoms for 15+ years, but the main thing is arthritis. Extremely swollen fingers. Doctors tell me I have psoriatic arthritis (but the only psoriasis I have is small white spots under my nails).
Currently taking anti-inflammatory medication. I had my Primary Doctor do a Western Blot test. The results were negative, but I had band 66 & 41 kDa present.
My friends daughter, who had similar results, but different symptoms is currently being treated for Lyme Disease by a doctor in Missouri. She has had remarkable results. Hence the reason for my long winded request for a local Doctor who is open to treating me for Lyme Disease.
Any help or feedback would be appreciated.

I tried calling the doctor that my friend suggested. The office was closed, but the message informed me that all returned calls would be billed. I don't think any doctor has ever billed me for returning a call.

Not to be blind sided, but what will it cost to get a call returned? Any idea on what the initial visit will cost? How long will it take? How many and how much will the different tests cost? How often do you physically have to go the doctors office? Will health insurance cover this type of treatment?

I find it hard to believe that I can't find a doctor locally.

Are their ever any medical studies being done on Lyme Disease? If so, how do I find out about them? How do you qualify for them?

Thanks for letting me ramble on and I guess I need to get busy reading all the info people have already sent me.

Thanks again

They don't charge to call you back to set up an appointment. I'm sure of that.

They charge $3 for script refills and $5 if a nurse calls you back.

Charging has freed up tons of time for his office staff!! They used to have WAY too many calls. So I don't mind paying.

I'll PM you again.

Quailman,

Just dont be penny wise and pound foolish.

JUST call them again when office is open and make an appointment and GO.

NO there arent ANY local LLMD's,,actually this one is about the BEST in the Midwest!! And probably the ONLY one you want to go to!!

YOU dont take your car to the neighbor 14 year old cause he is 'cheaper' to work on expensive car parts,,,dont go to the 'cheapest' LLMD to get fixed either!!

I am further from him than YOU are and I was TOLD I was one of his closer patients,,,they travel from around the WORLD to see him. Hope that makes you feel better on distance, its all relative!!

Are you west of the BIG river or East??? LOTS of lyme around there always talking to 'somebody' there with it!! Last guy said he KNEW he picked it up in CB!!

Where else you going to find a LLMD with 800-1000 patient cases to study and 'practice' on??? Experience is worth volumes with THIS disease!! remaining--just don--
