I recently discovered this site . We are seeking a diagnosis for my 18 yr old son. Based on the Lyme symptom list , my son has 23 of the 38 symptoms which have been present for nearly two years. He's had 4 MRI's within the last six months by several neurologists and neurosurgeons , and given an endless list of scripts for pain/muscle relaxtion. Originally thought his challenges were due to lower back disc problems, but his left side is now constantly numb ( including his face ) , plus the numbness/pain has migrated to his right leg. At the suggestion of a massage therapist and accupuncturist I asked our FP if they had considered lyme. To date he's only had one
" titer" test which came back negative . I've insisted a Weston Blot be performed. We've been referred to a local neurologist, but I fear we'll be led down more endless roads of tests only to be told " something is going on..we don't know what..here's another script " We're in the Raleigh, NC area.
Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks
pdavis

be sure to get the lyme WB through Igenex. It is the most reliable lab for WB tests.

try doing a search on Igenex using the search option above.

peace.

one more thought -- you can get the Igenex test yourself while you are waiting to see a LLMD.

I got the Igenex test kit and took it to my primary care doc; she was willing to draw the blood and have the reports sent to her office.

You have to fedex the blood to Igenex yourself, so be sure to have it drawn early in the week and late in the day.

even though your primary care doc wont be able to interpret the results, you will have them in hand when your son sees a LLMD.

remember, test results are not definitive -- Lyme must be diagnosed clinically. A 'negative' test result does not mean the patient does not have Lyme.

keep us posted.
