Hello to everyone. This is a great board with tons of info.
My wife began displaying symptoms of Lyme about nine years ago. It all began with a strange, what we thought was infection, growth under the bed of her fingernails. It was followed shortly after by what looked like pimples, but quickly became craters in the skin. She saw our GP and he prescribed topical treatments containing steroids, which did nothing. Over the past nine years my wife has seen no less than 5 specialists, 4 Natural Healers ,spent thousands on topical treatments and snake oil, and been told she has DOP, and has been refused a Lyme test by our GP. She has now deteriorated to the point where she always shakes (vibrates is more like it), has lost weight, and has constant pain in her hands and upper body joints. I was wondering if anyone can suggest a really good Lyme Literate Doctor. I've done a ton of research and am sure that this is what's affecting my wife and possibly my youngest daughter (who has had rashes((which look like flea bites) suddenly appear and dissapear within weeks)) We live in the Toronto area but I will take her anywhere in the US to be tested.
Thanks

Check your private messages (click on the flashing envelope or 'my profile' above. There are several Canadian Support Groups listed. They should have information on good LLMD's (Lyme Literate MD's) in the Toronto area. There's a link on the upper left side of this page. Call them, rather than email.
I don't know if the Lyme Disease Assoc. covers Canada or not but it's worth a try. The site allows you to search for docs by entering a zip code or location. Steve, there is an LLMD in TO, but many that have gone to him are not impressed. Those same people are now traveling to upstate NY to see a great LLMD there. I'm in Montreal and I go to this LLMD in NY state.
