I've recently been diagnosed with Lyme disease. It's pretty scary right now and I'm glad to have a forum to get some help - so thanks! It has happened very quickly - last week had achy joints, then a rash -- turns out I have a strep skin infection and lyme(diagnosed by symptoms and positive blood test)- I was put on doxycl.for Lyme and erthyromycin for the strep. I woke up Sunday with Bell's palsy.
My primary care physician is recommending an infectious disease specialist who is supposed to be good and I'm planning to see him if I can get in, but I wanted to find out about lyme literate doctors. I can travel - Someone told me the town of Hudson which is a couple of hours away has more physicians familiar with lyme than my area and I should find out who is good there.
In addition, my immediate concern is a rash has broken out all over and I can't tell if its a drug allergy, out of control strep, or just another symptom of Lyme (I've been on the meds 7 days so far)and my doctor didn't know either and I can't seem to get into see anyone soon. It's frustrating- any ideas about how this would be appreciated. So I'd like to find appropriate medical help, and to find out if an all over rash is a Lyme symptom.I'd also like opinions on steroids for Bell's Palsy. (I was told by my physician I shouldn't take them because of the strep but wondered if anyone had any suggestions about that too.) Thanks

ellie, welcome; glad you found us QUICKLY AND RECEIVING MEDS PROMPTLY! *****************************
sorry, NO LLMDS IN EITHER CITY YOUR MENTIONED! **********************************************
so please give us 4-6 LARGE CITIES with the CLOSEST ones being named first ok!! NY has many there!!
DO NOT GO TO INFECTIOUS DOCTOR!! perhaps around 1 dozen GOOD ones nationwide, but they do NOT believe in chronic lyme and treat UNDER 30 DAYS ONLY; NOT LONG ENOUGH. you'll end up like us if you go there and take under 30 days of pills!!!
NO STEROIDS!! suppresses the lyme system! *************
1 exception for me personally are the INHALERS helping me to breath; they help me; others they don't and some react VERY BADLY to them!!
what are the doses mg of both prescriptions; please list ok!!
