Hi, I am working with an open minded, holistic doctor in Texas on my chronic fatigue issues.

Immune system testing indicates that I am fighting a serious chronic infection of some sort. He suspects Lyme or some other stealth organism.

He agrees with pursuing IGeneX testing for Lyme, but is balking at ordering the stained smear from Fry Labs. He agrees it is a good test, but says ordering this test will make him a target of the Texas Medical Board and possibly result in losing his ability to practice in Texas.

Can anyone enlighten me about this situation? I understand from some info I found on the internet that LLMDs have come under attack in TX.

Do you think that ordering this test will the lightening rod he thinks it will be?

I was working with a different doctor a little over a year ago and he told me about this test. Unfortunately, we didn't pursue it at the time.

Has the political situation changed in the last year or do you think I should go back to my previous doctor?

Any insights you can offer will be greatly appreciated!!

The political situation in TX changed about 2-3 yrs ago. Nothing in the last year, I don't think.

I don't see why ordering a test thru Fry Lab is any more dangerous than ordering one through Igenex.

Can you get your PCP to order it??

I don't have a PCP. Currently he is my only doctor.

I guess I will have to try getting the test done through my previous doctor.

I hope he will still be willing to order it and that I don't have to spend a lot of other money to satisfy him before doing the test.

Gosh, this is frustrating!!! I just want to do the tests that give me the best chance of figuring out what is going on.
