I live outside Scottsdale. I'm 53 and tested positive for Lyme 2.5 years ago. Since the average Physician seems to be unable to tell the difference between arthritis and lyme, I've been through four sessions of antibiotics "just in case". No one (three MDs or two Rheumatologists) can answer the "how do I know it's gone" question.

As i write this, my knee is in a soft cast because, literally overnight, I could not walk dur to pain and stiffness. Being a consultant, I'm on the road and was forced to the local ER. Naturally, as they took my information, I informed them of my Lyme history. They then added a Lyme titer to my bloodwork. I asked the ER Dr. what the purpose was, since I can guarentee that it will come back positive. She gave an explanation that they can now tell if its recurent or chronic Lyme. Either way, because the Titer will take 5 days, my only treatment is the cast and painkillers. Given the fact I still have no idea what my problem really is, it's time to find a real specialist in my area.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Cheers

Hi Wotan,

There's an online Arizona Lyme group at
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ArizonaLyme/
Hopefully someone there can help you find a nearby doctor. I only know of LLMDs in California.

I also found a website for the Arizona Lyme Disease Org., which lists contact people in the state:

http://www.azlyme.org/About_us.html

As I understand it, the way most LLMDs know Lyme is gone is when the symptoms are gone and stay away. Since you are having symptoms that could be from Lyme, it's very possible that your Lyme was never eradicated, or that you also had a co-infection that wasn't treated.

If you haven't already, please print out Dr. Burrascano's "Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines" at the Ilads website: http://ilads.org/guidelines.html

I hope that you can see an LLMD soon. In the meantime, take care of yourself!!

TRY THIS WEBSITE:

It allows you to search for LLMD's (Lyme Literate Medical Doctors) by entering your zip code.

For Online Doctor Referrals, click on the following URL for the
Lyme Disease Association Doctor Referral page:
http://www.lymediseaseassociation.org/Doctor_Referrals.html
(1-888-366-6611)

I also sent you a private message (click on the flashing envelope).

I live in AZ.

I think most of us with lyme travel out of state for help.

although we are trying to recruit a LLMD for AZ.

We had one travel from out of state to AZ last month.

Don't know if they will be back.

the best place for testing is Igenex Lab.

But, Lyme is a clinical dx by a LLMD

There are two lyme support groups in AZ.

I wish had better news for you.

I am seeing a doc in CA as are others in AZ

Others were seeing a doc in Colorado who just closed his practice.

I don't know if LDA can help you out or Igenex Lab with referrals.

They were not able to help me when I moved here from CA two years ago.

Sorry, I am not much help.

2008 - LLMD's - There are a few in the Arizona area.

I go to a good one in Mesa off Power & Baseline.

I hear there are a couple of good ones in Phoenix and Scottsdale.

[Smile] Please PM. I will share.

Don't wait ~ Spirochetes multiply without something to combat them.
