I'm a 42 year old male in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

So far for testing:
- negative Lyme test result
- low platelet count
- awaiting ehrlichia test result
(Sorry, I lack specific test names and values.)

I'm trying to find a specialist I can see once I have the ehrlichia test result.

History:

26-27 July 2008
* Was in wooded area (Burnett County, WI)
27 July
* Discovered deer tick on my back
* Tick had been on me 31 hours max
* no rash, no symptoms
28 July
* Saw primary care physician
* No symptoms, tick not engorged, tick not on me long, so no treatment
* No blood tests run
* Was told, call if you have symptoms
30 July
* Rib pain on left side of chest in afternoon.
* Gradually got worse as day went on
* Woke up at 3am because it hurt to breathe
31 July
* Called doctor, went on 100mg Doxycycline twice daily for 14 days
* Rib pain was better within 24 hours
* Rib pain and nausea for days, not sure if nausea was from Doxycycline
* All better within a week but continued treatment for the 14 days
30 August 2008
* Rib pain again, this time on right side of chest
* Went to urgent care
* Got blood tests
- Platelet count low
- Lyme and Ehrlichia tests sent to state lab
- Lyme result came back negative
- Ehrlichia result should come within a week
* Got chest x-ray. Result: no problems seen
* Went on 100mg twice daily Doxycycline for 14 days
* Nausea and headache

100mg of doxy??? Once a day???? AARRRGGGHH!!!

Most general MD's give 200mg a day and THAT's not enough!!!

If it were ME, I'd want 400mg a day for no less than 6wks.

I'll send you some info.

Sorry, it's 100mg Doxycycline twice a day. I edited the post just now to fix that.

Thanks for the info you sent, and the reality check on Doxycycline dosage/duration!

welcome pete, so glad you found us, and thanks for the good detailed history of what has been happening, etc!!

sending you minn/wisc. llmd info!; check your profile for it ******************** more info below...

Welcome; so glad you found us!!

Fyi: we have over 1000 viewers daily; 200 - 400 posting/replying so we all must manage our time well; so specific titles get our time/replies. NON-SPECIFIC ONES, I SOB, SCROLL ON BY!
*************************************************************

Also, please be VERY SPECIFIC in subject line what you will be discussing.

Example:

PLEASE show your positive, +/-, and IND numbers from both western blot IGG AND IGM blood tests; do it this way please!

IGM ... do same thing for IGG below IGM
*******************************************

18 +
41 +/-
78 IND

When you post or reply, please break up your solid, continuous block text [Smile]
welcome to the board! many of us have neuro lyme where we can NOT read long solid block text and be able to comprehend and read it as is.

please edit your post by CLICKING PAPER/PENCIL ICON to right of your name. that opens up BOTH subject line and body text.

now please break up your WORDY SENTENCES into one sentence paragraphs. Then hit ENTER KEY ``THREE`` after each paragraph; we need that space for comprehension.

if you are NOT a wordy person, you can do 2 or 3 total ok. do this for your entire post.

NOTE: you do NOT have to use "", just show the name of person you are responding to, and then type your comment.

IF you need to use "", PLEASE DELETE "BOLD" CODES so it's regular type text we read vs. the DARK, HARSH/PAINFUL BOLDING.

specifically, delete the first 4 characters of 2ND LINE of a ""

[QB] just delete these 4 characters, and BOLDING is GONE! my eyes will really appreciate that; it's one very bad side effect of my having lyme for 38.5 years!! xox

then go to left hand corner and mark box to receive ALL REPLIES, and click EDIT SEND

we thank you for helping us; [Wink] otherwise, we will SOB, SCROLL ON BY, since we can't read to help you. If I see posts like this, I SOB them; to hard on me. I'm also in the early stages of losing my eyesight from diabetes retinopathy. [Frown]
