My son was diagnosed 15 years ago with Lyme Disease, at age 9 (bullseye rash, swollen knee, positive Western Blot.) He had 3 or 4 weeks of oral antibiotics and we didn't think much more about it. Nine years later, at age 18, he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. His symptoms at the time were treatment-resistant depression, impulsivity and ADD. He's been prescribed so many meds but his depression persists. He also has headaches, muscle tremors and twitches, TMJ pain, fatigue, etc. This summer, at age 24, he was finally retested for Lyme. The ELISA was positive (1.62) but the WB was negative (4 reactive bands on one, one reactive on the other.) He has just seen the movie "Under Our Skin" and he is now reading all he can about Lyme. It all fits. Does anyone know a LLMD in West Chester, Exton, or Philadelphia?

Dr. Burrascano's most recent "Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines for Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses" @
http://www.ilads.org/burrascano_0905.html
suggests that you discuss with your doctor continuing treatment until you are symptom free for 2 months.

this link, making the most of your LLMD visit, may help you also.

Hi Molly,
Sorry to hear your son has been through so much. Thank goodness, he saw the movie and put it together.

My 4 year old twin boys are currently getting treatment and my husband is as well. I have it too but have not yet started treatment.

I live near you in Malvern, PA and just learned that Dr. Burrescano is speaking next Saturday at noon in Kennet Square. He is probably the most famous lyme doctor in our country. I would highly recommend you and your son attend if you can. You will learn so much. I will post info about it on the medical questions board but you can find out more at www.lymepa.org.

Probably the best LLMD in PA is Dr. C, but the wait is long. Another option is Dr. B in West Chester. Send me a private message if you want more info.

Good luck to you and your son.
