I am a 51 year old woman who had shingles in July/Aug of 2009, which resulted in Belly's Palsy which I still have. At an annual wellness check-up in Dec. my family doc. suggested I always be tested for Lyme. That was done, but, unfortunately the office refiled my file before telling me that I had a positive test result for Lyme. I just found out about it yesterday. I am on meds. for the Lyme now, but considering the shingles and bell's palsy, I think I should see a specialist for ALL of this. I have a zillion questions. Also I don't want to start another med. that might not help. Any suggestions about a doc. I should see for Lyme and Shingles. Thank you very much!

I also want to add that other than the bell's palsy and a few minor aches and pains (could me just age and menopausal symptoms) I don't have all the stuff that is normally associated with Lyme disease. Could a positive result incorrect? Does that happen?

Be very careful of the so called LLMD's especially ones located in West Chester. I ended treatment with one there who only wanted to insert a PICC line, became irritated when I questioned treatment via oral antibiotics as an initial treatment. The IV antibiotic Ricophan made me extremely ill, the issues with the treatment was worse than the Lyme symptoms. Quite frankly I think some of these doctors have found a way to make money with their "Infusion Centers" off the insurance companies. I have an appointment with an Infectious Disease doctor on Monday who treats Lyme patients, she was recommended by my daughter who is an RN in one of the hosptials in Chester County. This doctor has treated several of my daughters co-workers who have become ill with Lyme with favorable results so I have high hopes.

I had an appointment with the ID doctor today. I took multiple copies of lab results from Dr S in West Chester, and was told that the results were all negative. Doctor was not sure if I ever had Lyme and now suspects I have RA, swollen disfigured joints in right hand. So much for the weeks of antibiotics I was on, this is so frustrating.
