After years of unexplained worsening stiffness in my joints I awoke one morning to find that I could barely stand due to extreme muscle weekness.
I also had fatigue like I had never before experienced as well as every joint in my body screaming at me and short term memory degradation.
My family doc gave my the standard lyme tests. The ELISA was positive but Western Blot performed by Quest labs came back with nothing.
I was given a 3 week course of antibiotic and after not much improvement referred to a rheumatologist which I have yet to see.
Any Ideas as to why the western blot was negative when all the symptoms are consistent with lyme and the elisa was positive?
I am a 40 something guy in otherwise good health until this happened

Hi and welcome!
Sorry you are ill. I can relate.
Testing is unrealiable. Many of us have had negative western blots.
For you to have a positive ELISA is a miracle..that's how unreliable it is.
Many people remain undiagnosed because Dr's see a negative test and say "you don't have lyme"...which is wrong.
You are fortunate to have found this site.
