Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and have already learned so much. Thank you!
I live in Wilmington, NC, but grew up in New Jersey, which is where I was originally diagnosed with LD in 1993, and treated with one month of oral abx, which seemed to work since It was caught early.
I am now thirty years old with three boys under the age of 5 and struggling to get through each day. Last November my symptoms started again with almost constant lightheadedness.
Now a short 5 months later I am dealing with continued lightheadedness, severely fatigued, migraines, brain fog, depression, tremors and ticks, and nystagmus(eye twitching).
I can only describe it to people that I feel as tired as being pregnant first trimester, but with mono on top of that. Oh, and that weird feeling that electricity is running through my body!
So far the only test that I have had is the CD57 from labcorp with 1% and 17 abs.
Coming from NJ I am absolutely shocked and appalled of how LD is treated, or more so NOT treated here. I am having absolutely zero luck trying to find a LLMD anywhere in NC.
I'm trying to stay in NC because I'm hoping (probably naively) that it may make it easier to get treatment covered by BCBS of NC. I understand and am fine with paying the MD out of pocket, just concerned about treatment costs.
