I am the father of an 11 year old boy and we live in Cleveland, Ohio. My son came back from Nantucket about a month ago and is experienced flu like symtoms, headaches, and joint pains. We are unfortunately already familar with Lyme since we have a 19 year old who was recently diagnosed with it by a Lyme literate doctor on the East Coast after years of misdiagnoses by Ohio doctors. Any referral help for a doctor closer to us would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your 11 year old. I completely understand about misdiagnosis by OH doctors. We are paying the price because of it at my house.
So are you looking for a closer doc than your 19 year old has? I would imagine he/she is still in treatment.
I will send you what I have. We travel to Illinois.
Has your 11 year old started any antibiotics with his local MD?
I heard Nantucket was really bad this summer.

Things are never dull. After 3 fighting Lyme, 2 are in remission. Youngest is still sick, age 22. He has new diagnosed Chiari Malformation and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

hello, ckcleveburg...I read your inquiry regarding your llmd need in OH. Would you mind passing down some info as I also live in OH and am looking for an LLMD. Also, which docs from OH misdiagnosed your 19yo child? Were they LLMD? It would be nice to know so I can stay away from them.

LLMD's don't typically misdiagnose Lyme disease. Many of us have been misdiagnosed by family doctors, infectious disease and rheumatology docs and even neurologists. Sometimes it is a misdiagnosis but other times purely undiagnosed.
